Fans concerned of age difference between Billie Eilish and her ex

I mean, it's not THAT great of an age difference, just a lil bit unusual because I wouldn't be looking for 16yos at that age. But she knew what she was getting into, I only wish she would've asked for advice or asked her parents for guidance. The ideal thing would be to be together with someone that has similar life experiences so this doesn't happen, but it happened so... I just wish she's alright

Lmao I started dating my boyfriend when I was 17 and he was 22  We’re still together in a very stable and healthy relationship. Its not concerning at all.

I'm the only person who mentioned her maturity, so please have the decency to mention me directly.

Too bad, it was taken out of context. It had nothing to do with the guy's age or even hers, it was all about the fact that she's extremely fair and, well, mature when she speaks about people, just like Gaga. That's it.

He's hardly an adult... like when he was dating her he graduated from being a teen two years prior. He's still very young himself. Just because someone turns 20 doesn't mean their all of a sudden 'old' or shouldn't be dating people younger than them... 16-21 is 5 years, and literally are around the same ages. If Billie was younger than 16, or he was older than 30, then I could see the outrage. 

Y'all try make everyone a 'groomer' yet don't bat an eyelid when Madonna dates someone a quarter of her age.

I just realized that most of those fans of Billie have to be around her age which is 19. When I was that age I used to think 25 year olds were so mature and ready to get married and 30 year olds were old and be parents by then. Now that I'm 30 I'm like lmao so it makes sense they think there is a "huge gap" between them. They will understand that in the future.

I was 17 when I started dating my first boyfriend, who was 19 at the time. Technically he was an adult and I wasn't. Does that make him a pedo? 

I do see how a 22 year old guy dating a 16 year old girl is a bit creepy though, but calling him a pedo is a bit much.

So just because it was a standard in the past it makes it okay for the times we're in now? That doesn't sound too reasonable to me--applying that logic to any kind of social advancements today would not fly, so why does it fly for this?

I think framing it as "oh but it's only 5 years apart" is dangerous when not considering the different stages in life the two are, their mental and emotional capacities, and experiences. Someone who is 22 is in a very different stage of life compared to someone who is 16, same as someone who is 24 and the other is 19.
