He needs to understand that if he doesn't vote with the party he will be primaried. IMO He can be primaried, but a Progressive is not going to win in WV. You’ve got to understand the differences and demographics in areas of the US. WV is not a NY. Minimum wage requirements are going to end up as a compromise between conservatives, moderates and liberals...and probably pushed through early in various states. (with the red states lagging behind) I don’t believe the fight for a higher minimum wage is going to be “let go”. It is something that is going to be continually fought for and pushed forward. Like everything, it takes time.
Fresco 1,688
There are other ways to pass a minimum wage increase. The last one was added to a critical bill that republicans didn't want to veto, like a defense appropriation bill. Unfortunately, it might take a few more months to get there. The $1400 checks should help out quite alot in the meantime.

gabeoz 7,915
As much as I want Kamala to overrule the parliamentarian, the ruling would have be upheld by a majority in the senate and it’s almost guaranteed Sinema and/or Machin will block it. Republicans ALREADY broke the norms when they passed their $2 trillion tax cut for the rich through reconciliation. And you really think they wouldn't have just overruled the parlamentarian had they ruled that wasn't relevant to the budget? BS and you know it. Republicans aren't afraid to use their power. Dems need to grow a pair and start playing hardball and actually USE their power when they have it, and stop being so scared of being popular. Difference is that there’s a small handful of dems who threaten to ruin everything. Manchin and Sinema are pissing on every major piece of dem legislation they can, let’s hold them accountable. We've learned from experience that the separate bill never materializes. It's just not how congress works anymore. They pass a small handful of giant omnibus bills over the course of a year. Something either gets in one of the giant must-pass bills or it gets stalled forever.

Well that’s probably true. But this is one of those situations where they should be exposing them with those votes. It could inspire potential primary challengers on that issue alone. It’s pure clownery. I guess the reality is most Americans don’t really pay attention to those details when they vote. They only complain about the consequences of bad leadership and then look to insane conspiracy theories for answers.

I agree that they need to be held accountable, and we should all be pushing on them, but the fact they're doing that doesn't take away from the fact that Dems including Harris should still be fighting for these things and pushing back. They ain't doing NOTHING right now. It's crickets from Harris and actually saying she'll do nothing, after they ran on this in their platform and Harris said she was going to fight for $15. Just like it was with Obama, they run on something during the campaign, then don't fight and just give up at the soonest chance when there's any obstacle. ZERO backbone. Dems are feckless and never end up doing anything they promised or say they will.
