Backlash about Museum in the middle of Mexican Jungle

I think it looks amazing and I believe it will do more good than bad. It will raise awareness of the rainforest, the environment and about indigenous people. If it takes a museum in the middle of the rainforest than so be it. This is a small price to pay for the benefits.

Although, I do not like the fact that the toilet water will go in the jungle. That needs to be sorted out. Also, there should be strict rules for visitors regarding pollution. Like there should be big fines if someone throws trash on the ground.

amazing insight! people that insist in seeing the negative side of situations are plenty (like the negative kween @Kulture Kiari ) but very few shine and make the world better with their positive influence and vissionary perspective, thank you @gumzy3000

mmm @Diamond Heart i know that you are sadding me but i'm sure that they are taking all our worries into consideration, specially since the museum will be like a huge biodegradable building that will fade and mix with the rest of the jungle over time. Also i'm pretty sure they will solve the plumbing, water dispossal as well, with a ecological water treatment plant.

it's a private investment and almost sure Carlos Slim, the richest man in Mexico is behind it, he owns the Soumaya museum in Mexico City

How can you be okay with a rich man going against the wishes of indigenous people of a land to do a project he could have done elsewhere?

it doesn't have to disrupt the communities in any way or form, art, science, nature and local culture can co-exist together

 it's meant to highlight the beauty and the culture of this area and protect it in the long run

i think in the end it will benefit them more IF IT'S DONE RIGHT. So, PLEASE don't get me wrong, i'm not 100% sold by this.

I absolutely love it! I agree with what you said, people always feel the need to be negative about everything all the time but I feel like this could become a big icon in modern architecture. I bet these people would also criticize the iconic Fallingwater House by Frank Lloyd Wright if they were in the 30s lmao

I think the term is Woke Capitalism or something similar, except this takes it to the next level. The fact that a billionaire is likely behind this project just seals the deal for me. You don't need a museum bulldozing the jungle to learn about... deforestation, the environment, and indigenous people.  And they won't fix the plumbing/ draining issues, why would they? They are already planning on bulldozing THE JUNGLE to build this- they do not care already. Liberals give these capitalists too much charitability when saying that they will "fix the toilet drain" issues... when they are already showing you that they DONT CARE. 

Oh a research facility? Build that elsewhere. Holy ****.

I see the benefits of it, I don't like to immediately criticize everything, but still none of those benefits should matter more than the wishes of the people actually living there (unless I'm misunderstanding who "indigenous" refers to... is it like indigenous tribes who still live on that land?)

actually the woman behind it is a mexican art collector that have been working for decades to highlight the importance of fair trade and artisanies from México. 

the money is by private investment but the general concept was not made by a billionaire  and let's be honest, it's not like people is actually going to make money out of it

Thanks for the info, but it still does not address the fact that the toilet water will probably just drain straight into the jungle as is being proposed. 

And the main issue still remains: woke capitalism. Bulldozing a Jungle, violating Indegenous rights and sympathies all so that wealthy people around the world can fly on airplane to Mexico, and drive to this location in vehicles with toxic exhaust coming from them, and shitt on toilets that will drain into the Jungle's waters... so they can 'learn' about pollution and the environment is ironic and self defeating.
