Ppl really gotta stop targeting businesses that have nothing to do with an issue as a way to protest :madge:

Lowkey seems like its just an excuse to get free stuff along with ur cause cuz then u can justify it

Do most of these looters donate what they steal to poor ppl at least or some other good deed? If thet dont (i bet most dont) then the real reason for looting stands obvious in my opiniom

Sad to see are poor people without any help in the middle of the pandemic, trying to survive to another day

Not rich shops being looted

Trust me, Versace is going to be ok

That really isnt the point at all

First of all just because 1 thing is more disheartening to see than another doesnt mean the other is ok to do

Secondly one is a problem of circumstance while the other individuals are making a conscious effort and choice to go and loot. They arent eveb remotely the same thing

I find ur comparison an extremely poor use of logic tbh

This wasn't a comparison but a connection

People are struggling, system is ****ed up

These rich shops are standing here

So looting when you are poor and don't have any money in times like that can be life saving thing to do

And Versace is not going to even feel anything, so who cares?

Be mad at the system, not people.

But this isnt a protest loot over struggling for basic necessities over a pandemic this is a supposed protest for a totally unrelated case

Many looters may not even be poor on top of that i bet u most just want stuff. Even if most turned out to indeed be struggling ppl due to pandemic what does looting versace have to do with survival? Is there food or other basic necessities in these stores?

I dont agree with justifying stealing just because someone is rich but even then, thats not even what this protest is about nor is it helping specific indiduals in poverty. If that was the case loot a grocery store

Sorry, but this man is not in jail just for a song lyric...

It's not like you talk something bad about the King and you enter to jail....The rapper has lyrics that clearly shows disrespect, hate and terrorism exaltation.

Hope everyone is safe tbh.

The point is that what made him enter to jail is a song lyric about the King, so yes, he did other stuff but the turning point for him to get to jail was a song:toofunny:

It's not okay to put people in jail for that, everyone should be free to say what they want on a song. There are literal Nazis here in Spain talking all kinds of barbaric things and that's completely legal.

I don't think violence is cool and I wouldn't like to wake up in the morning and see that my motorbike has been burned down or that the window of my shop has been broken, but no change in history was made asking things politely. Instead of blaming people for protesting, Spain should look at what made them protest and change the ancient constitution and laws that look straight from the middle ages so people don't have a reason to destroy stuff.

Yes they started a protest over something else

And a lot of people just used this occasion to get some money from looting

Good for them, poor people are going to survive, not poor people are getting even more coins and shops are going to be fine anyways

What's the problem?

How do u even know every shop is going to be fine? Was every shop raided a high end store??? And even if so many store locations are franchises with individual owners who have their life investments there

Seems a bit presumptious to just assume all these shops will be fine or barely notice

People seem to look for any reason to "loot" as a form of protest these days.

No, Pablo Hasel is irrelevant at this point. This is about going against fascism, police brutality and the rich.

HEARTSTOP

I believe he has the right to say what he thinks, whether in song, or in tweets (and believe me, those were way worse), but he also has to face the consequences of his actions.

I don't think jail is the appropriate consequence though. His Twitter account should've been disabled a long time ago, considering his blatant calls to action to terrorist groups. Social media platforms have to start being held accountable for the things they allow people to do in them. That wouldn't be considered censorship, because no one has the fundamental right to have a social media account.

About the lyrics, even though I highly oppose them, he has the right to express his feelings, the same way music platforms have the right to take down the song if they feel that it goes against their terms of service (like pr0n audio clips etc). Honestly I prefer that he's an asshole in broad daylight than being hidden in the shadows conspiring to take terrorist action without any way of predicting it.

Jail was completely disproportionate, now they turned him into a martyr because of it. This is clearly a lose-lose situation.

These riots just prove people are bored out of their mind and will find any excuse to do stupid stuff, and maybe even get some free stuff with it. They have a right to protest, not to vandalize. I had the same opinion on the BLM riots.
