hoping all my Texans are hanging in there. :kara: i know other parts of the US (like Oklahoma, where I am) are suffering too. we lost power and are pretty much snowed in until it melts maybe this weekend. so far we've got about 8 or so inches of snow and then another 6 is on its way.... :ohno: such a storm is so unprecedented for the central/southern US. be safe and try to stay warm

Lord I didn’t think it’d be this bad. :ohno:

I live in Laredo so it didn’t get as bad as places like Austin or Dallas. Hoping y’all stay as safe as possible.

I understand being unprepared for things like ice on the roads and show/ice snapping electric lines, but how did they take seemingly zero precautions to make sure they had plans in place for worst case scenarios like this? People can die from this level of negligence.

Plus they had a damn whole week to get their equipment ready for the storm but I guess they can careless about people as long as they still get their coins... truly sad and infuriating at the same time!

I read the Governor is using National Guards or whatever to help, where are they? :oprah:

Also ERCOT said it expects the outages to continue the rest of Monday and possibly all day Tuesday.

While, Oncor, which provides electricity to much of North Texas, said it is asking all its customers to be prepared to be without power “for an extended period of time.”

This feels so post apocalyptic for some reason. I was without power most of the day yesterday and ran out of food last night. This is so strange.
But then I open my front door and for some reason the snow still fills me with a child-like wonder.

Just got power back after 32ish hours with no power (who knows how long the power will last). The whole “power is rolling” stuff is bullshit. Still waiting to have running water back too.

While I’m here and can say something....

F*ck Oncor

F*ck Greg Abbott

F*ck ERCOT

Hope everyone is staying safe amongst these dangerous conditions.

Yea Fuuck them, especially since they have created a monopoly in which we have no other option but to go through them for electricity, I really hope this is a wake up call and they each receive lawsuits for all the chaos they have created :saladga:

The irony of declaring a federal emergency asking for federal funding after just recently calling for secession should NOT be lost. These red states are big and bad when their preferred candidate doesn’t win, but get some ice and they suddenly realize they’re not as independent as they think. Their representatives will readily screw over a whole state because they’re mad the orange one got voted out.

(And some, I assume, are good people.)

Look at how Republicans handled the virus. They’re too childish and incompetent to run anything.

It’s crazy huh? Same thing here in my state (MO). They are resorting to rolling power outages for different areas from 20-30 minutes at a time because they don’t have enough energy to support the grid. They’ve known this was coming for well over a week and did NOTHING to prepare. It’s been cold af here for 2 weeks at least, hanging out in the single digits, but somehow this caught them off guard?
