Yea they have proper insulation and infrastructure too so 10 inches of *snow* is literally not a big deal. In my ten years living in Alaska the only thing that ever shut us down was freezing *rain*, which is what Texas is seeing right now. And we certainly never lost power for more the 8 hours, let alone > 24.

People love to talk about things they know nothing about though.

We have literally taken our own blankets to cover our animals and some of y’all are laughing like is nothing serious because “your state” is surviving , I can’t believe some people can be this insensitive, one thing is humans but animals don’t have the capacity to survive this weather   I wasn’t even able to sleep last night just think about my babies  Even my neighbor was at full speed adding extra straw for his cows which actually made me extra sad!

I live in Texas, near the Austin area. My family and I were out of power the entire day, and it’s FREEEEEZING. Luckily we have a couple of candles and flashlights, and our water is still running.

I’m only able to make this comment right now cause my dad’s hotspot is on. Y’all, it’s crazy here. There’s soooo much snow and ice. Compared to states like the Midwest, sure, it’s probably nothing, but this morning it was 7 degrees and there was at least 6-7 inches of snow. And there still is. God, I really hope this gets better by the morning.

Stay warm, I’m glad you’re ok and have running water, here in the Permian Basin we mostly run on well water and we haven’t had water all day, we went out find water and came back home ASAP to stay warm again, stay safe and warm

Republicans really are on social media blaming windmills freezing up for the outage and using it as an example why they need to shift away from green power when the power shortage is caused by gas and coal generators going offline from the freezing temps

The San Antonio zoo is asking for supplies, pet crates, etc because the animals (mostly their primates) are dying in the cold with little power

Nooooo, this breaks my heart I would totally donate some straw which keeps animals warm and blankets if I was there. I really hope people show up and donate with whatever they can
