Eddie 2,518
Not him making the Free Britney movement about himself And writing like he invented the #FreeBritney? I see some people really feel the need to take the spotlight from others What if tomorrow I see you again? Should I say that I used to love you? He’s just promoting his onlyfans and am not having that. How is this not a relevant time to bring it up when he is famous mostly from his leave britney alone video? Zeth 929
His Twitter post isn't making the movement about himself; he has always been a huge part of the movement. Whether you agree with what he does now or not, his video was not only the most viral video concerning this movement, but the most viral video on the Internet during YouTube's infancy, period. It brought a ton of exposure and attention of the mistreatment of Britney to the generation that is now presently being the most vocal about freeing Britney. And, honestly, he has every right to speak about his involvement. It's clearly impacted him and his well-being.

Chromatican 4,046
He isn’t making this “moment” about himself, he is bringing up another important issue along with the Free Britney movement. The fact is is that the media was very homophobic back then and he is right to bring this up. He was attacked relentlessly for his video and if it led to him being attacked why can’t he talk about it?

The moment is bigger than him but him sharing his own experience is what the platform is for. Some singular minded people seem to think sharing an experience about a broader topic is somehow an attempt at making the moment about you when all it is is someone sharing. One of the dumbest takes that I see a lot.
alsemanche 93,880
The fact that some of y'all are invalidating him and mentioning his onlyfans as part of the reason is really disgusting btw. He can be a sex worker and still have feelings and issues to be vocal about you know? The two don't cancel each other. Soft, soothing, and succulent

Also, what he said on Twitter actually really highlights how much hate Britney was getting. Because if you could get that much hate for supporting someone, then imagine the hate the person you are supporting is getting. he/him/his

bionic 50,107
The content of the video was always right but in 2007 the world was against Britney and so it was treated as a parody
Thomas P 18,479
9 hours ago, SlipAway said: Ehh, no thank you. The way he made this whole situation about himself. Britney is the one still dealing with it 14 years later and you out there having fun and doing gay ****. No, just no. FOH. His point is necessary. This post isn't really about Britney, but a necessary comment on the queer community and the hypocrisy and internalized homophobia and transphobia that ran rampant back then, and is still crazy prevalent today, as well as the fact that a video made as a stan who genuinely cared for the mental health of his favourite artist was the reason for him being bullied so bad that he was close to suicide. Britney is obviously getting the media attention rn as she absolutely should be, but this post isn't as much about that. EDIT: sorry I didn't read the other parts of the thread yet, saw that someone already talked about it with you I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.
