bionic 50,111
Fines are a tax on the poor. Do we think Dua Lipa or Rita Ora will care about having to pay this? International travel should be banned except where essential. Nobody NEEDS a foreign holiday.

I think it is vital this is brought in to deter people from going abroad, regardless. This should of been brought in last year. Together You And I! Yes but its not a disincentive for those who can afford the fine, the time off work etc

And while the fine wouldn't be an issue to rich people it will hopefully be a deterrent to the other vast majority of people Edit: to clarify because some people are taking it out of context, I'm not condoning that rich people are treated differently. Am I rich? No. Am I basically housebound the same as most people? Yes. I was pointing out facts, strictly in terms of numbers, that in terms of covid spread this will deter most people because few people could afford fines, myself included. My thinking was that "it's just a few rich people they won't make a difference vs the rest of the population % wise". So while they could afford it I don't think it's actually ok... nobody should be breaking quarantine. And I do think that rich people shouldn't be immune to the law, or to the risk of a prison sentence, and should also receive greater fines in proportion to their wealth. I was trying to make a point about numbers and population %, not class, in terms of covid spread. I'm included in those non-rich people as are most of us. And the prison sentence (probably the biggest deterrent wouldn't you say?) applies to everyone. NOBODY should be breaking quarantine rules, that goes without saying. It's just stating facts that these paltry fines won't be an issue for rich people aka a minority, but it doesn't mean I think it's ok, if you must know I think fines should be in proportion to someone's wealth so that they wouldn't be immune to them unlike us. Don't put words in my mouth. @SlipAway @Pennywise if you care to read instead of blindly agreeing with the above post thanksss Like a poem said by a neydy in red

It's a global pandemic that's ****jng with everyone's lives, the government should be treating everyone the same and shouldn't give celebs a free pass this time. Stop acting like I'm the one implementing or condoning these measures, I was just pointing out what they were, or at least should be.
