Rebuilding the economy and a gradual raise of the minimum wage is best even tho there is a real time immediate feeling of relief during these hard times...

Says a lot about corporations who'd rather cut people instead of paying them liveable wages :yennefer: The proposed law should also come with sanctions for corporations who'd rather cut than appropriately pay. Better make it hurt.

I do not agree with their assessment

You honestly rather keep literally millions of American families in poverty so the price of your bananas doesn't go up 50 cents over 5 years?

:air:

(My more nuanced technical response can be found on the next page don't let it flop pls)

No it won't. Thats not how the economy works. They said the same about the wages in the UK.

In 2000 minimum wage was £3.60 per hour.

April 2021 will see minimum wage reach £8.91 per hour.

You know whats happened by people having more disposable income? They spend more, stimulating the economy because taxes are taken on more purchases. The wheels of finance are turning nicely.

You know what increased demand causes? Increased supply. That means more jobs.

Welcome to the 21st century, America.

A lot of these jobs will be automated regardless of the minimum wage. Might as well increase the quality of life and economic power of those working minimum wage jobs.

A lot of this is because people with 2 jobs will be able to just have 1, as their single-job wage increases.

not only that, but if a job requires you to make less than a livable wage for your work, you're being exploited. Jobs like that shouldn't exist.

If corporations (or small businesses) had the choice, they'd be paying people less than $7.25 an hour. They don't give a ****.
