JRCF29 8,202 Posted February 8, 2021 Share Posted February 8, 2021 Last night, R&B (visual) artist The Weeknd performed at the Super Bowl LV Halftime Show, and the reviews have been mixed, to say the least. Despite praise for his flashy music videos and even though he has spent the past year dominating the charts, many viewers (and members of this site) were left feeling underwhelmed by the performance... So did The Weeknd actually spend $7M on the show? If so, on what? The only thing I could think was that he paid the backup dancers (had to be at least 100), but surely they weren't paid $70,000 each for a 16-minute show! Nothing about the production stood out to me as anything other than the usual, which is paid by NFL and/or Pepsi. So what's the deal? Also, wasn't the show supposed to be 24 minutes long? I agree, it seems unlikely the dancers got paid 7k, but they all had to do lessons to perfect the choreo + they all neded costumes, so having that many backup dancers is an investment.
