Sarah ****ing Silverman is not part of the reason Britney is in the predicament she is in. Blame Britney’s parents, blame Britney, blame owners of tabloid magazines, blame our society as a whole even, but comedians did not draft up legal documents that resulted in Britney’s current situation.

Lmao... You are clearly not looking at the bigger picture and it shows. Everyone who ever said something so negative and who implied she’s a bad mother (ESPECIALLY TO MILLIONS OF PEOPLE) is the reason she is where she is today. Do you know how ****ing mental health works? Do you understand the pressure she was under? Every single person who laughed at her is the reason.

With everyone going I think she needs to apologize.

If she doesn’t she deserves to be cancelled, if there’s even something to be cancelled.
Otherwise I’m gonna talk shít in the future about everyone and just be like „I’m a comedian 🤪

Most people at the time did not see Britney Spears jokes as punching down. Literally any comedian who talked about pop culture was making Britney jokes in 2007. Sarah Silverman was less famous than Britney at the time, and many people made fun of Britney/Lindsay and Paris for being party girls back then. You have to understand the context of these jokes. It’s not like Sarah would tell a joke about Britney like that in 2021 anyway, she has become softer and kinder over the years.

I watched it live back then, so I remember that era. I've never been a Britney stan, but I remember still cringing at Sarah's jokes because it was evident to me that Britney was clearly unwell (this was post head shaving).

I love how "it's just a joke" is the exact same thing bullies say when you call them out :)

And isn't the principle of a roast that people who get roasted agree to it? I don't know the context but since she wasn't there and was apparently already not going well, I can't imagine Britney agreeing to that?

This. This is very a important componant of the concept.

So Sarah Silverman needs to apologize for a 14 year old joke because she contributed in part to the 2007 jokes and bashing of Brit? EVERY comedian made jokes about her back then, and let’s not pretend Britney didn’t also make really bad choices herself that led to the conservatorship.

People- GROW UP. She is a comedian. If you are that sensitive, then change the channel. Sarah Silverman has roasted millions of celebrities. That’s what they do. I swear some of you are too fragile.

Britney's conservatorship is not her fault her father and lou Taylor did this to her

A lot of people back then were laughing at, mocking or judging Britney, thats a fact. But they weren't the problem it was the media and tabloids in particular and Britney/her management didn't really help to lessen the situation.

Of course, it is unfortunate and a little sad but it is way easier to complain about those things in retrospect. Out of context.

It’s not her fault, but Britney stans always paint Britney as such a victim in these situations. There’s just no personal responsibility on Britney’s side and anyone who said anything negative about her is a total monster that needs to be cancelled. It’s so black and white to the stans.

Imagine claiming to be all about mental health and loving Gaga's message but thinking it is fine for Sarah to say this.

Disgusting.

This is such a ridiculous statement. Try telling this to people not on a pop music forum, and see how they respond. I’m sure me laughing at Britney jokes when I was in elementary school contributed to her life being a mess.

They are also part of the problem.

Omg you are being really obtuse. You really think it’s the fault of Sarah Silverman and elementary school kids...

Time to move on from the past Britney fans.
