Joanne is not good, sorry not sorry. ARTPOP isn't great either IMO, but I liked it much better than anything on Joanne.

Joanne, because I don't believe most of the premise of the album and the songs. I still don't understand or believe Gaga's connection to the folk/country vibe. It feels forced, rather than something she was genuinely passionate about. Also knowing for a fact that she didn't write some of the songs herself (Come To Mama, Perfect Illusion) is a little disappointing for such a "personal" album. I revisit it the least.

But has it affected who she is as an artist? TF was her debut. TFM blew her up. BTW set up her brand. Joanne and C2C showed her versatility.

And ARTPOP? :oprah:

"Check out the sound of 2012 in but in 2013."

Gaga's EDM style was unlike anything any other mainstream artist or pop female was doing. It was a very erratic EDM sound, nothing like Clarity or Titanium, for example.

ARTPOP allowed her to experiment with her sound, even if she believed in it and the media didn't it. It allowed her to fall and rebuild her artistry in a way that developed her into the legend she has become since.
ARTPOP always has a place in her discography. Far less generic and experimental than her debut, for example. It was always original music, not covers like C2C. Each of her albums are so different, I welcome diversity 😉
