‘This war has to end’ — Biden halts U.S. support for offensive military operations in Yemen

 

WASHINGTON – President Joe Biden announced on Thursday the end of U.S. support for offensive operations in Yemen and named a new envoy to oversee the nation’s diplomatic mission to end the civil war there, part of a broader foreign policy address highlighting greater U.S. engagement in the world.

“This war has to end,” Biden said during his first address on foreign policy as president. “We are ending all American support for offensive operations in the war in Yemen including relevant arms sales.”

“At the same time, Saudi Arabia faces missile attacks and UAV strikes and other threats from Iranian supplied forces in multiple countries,” Biden said. “We are going to continue to help Saudi Arabia defend its sovereignty and its territorial integrity and its people.”

There's basically been 4 years of no progress & 4 years of bullshit Trump put in to reverse. It seems like a lot because he came prepared to wipe it all out in his first 100 days. Very very happy with how prepared they came.

People have criticized him for his use of executive order, but Biden (and the Democrats) have to be effective and substantive to keep their slim majorities and make sure another Trumpist candidate cannot get anywhere near the White House in 2024. There is absolutely no time to play. Biden has to have the most impactful first 100 days in modern history or we are on a path towards a bloodbath and a QAnon takeover of the US government.

I honestly don't see him kowtowing to the right anytime soon. What they just did with Green-Taylor shows their unwillingness to work with democrats for sanity. If in 2 years they win back the house or the senate, we really are going to have some problems getting anything done, though. We must improve our majority!

The Middle East feels like a game of chess sometimes - I just hope the people in Yemen don't suffer anymore. Western media turned a blind eye on the bombings Saudi Arabia has done to those people and of the massive famine that happened there.
