Music has been out in Australia for a while now, and it's a literal mess. Like, not good at all.

I don't get why you're complaining then? Saying the critics (who have actually watched the movie, mind you) complaining about it are "jumping on the SJW bandwagon" like it is a bad thing to acknowledge problematic and stereotypical portayals. Lol

Mostly because the one that was just quoted in the thread talked about casting? That's not their role. So yeah, it kinda heads in that direction, but I'm not going to defend or trash the movie until I've seen it.  Maybe I'll be here Feb 12th trashing it. I don't know why you're so mad at me for miss Jillerella.

Because you unironically used the term "SJW" and on top of that, you used it as if it was a bad thing :selena: when the criticism is very well founded. I don't get why you are complaining about people "being SJWs" but not about people who do the things these so-called "SJWs" denounce.

Brainiac

Wow this is going to be a stain on Sia's career for sure. Idk what she was thinking partaking in the making of this movie. Based on these tweets she obviously did NOT do proper research to create a film with this type of subject matter.

Girl relax, like I said we probably will be on the same side after I've watched the movie. Why you gotta be do angry all the time? I can have a different opinion. If you want to live in an echo chamber, go find one.

Not The Real Gaga

I'm excited to watch the movie but didn't expect it to be nominated to be honest. It must be because not a lot of films were released during this cycle due to COVID but still interesting to see that. I just don't see it being nominated for the Academy Awards though.

I haven't seen that but know he's not a good actor. I just don't understand why people are now offended about straight guys playing gay men. Like it's just a movie and they're acting. Neil Patrick Harris is gay and he played a straight character on a sitcom for years and was praised for it. I just don't agree that "only gay men should play gay characters / only transgender people should play transgender characters" type of mentality. And yes I know that this comes back decades of homophobia and transphobia and they're trying to do the right thing being more inclusive today but if they do this then they're just repeating that.

I'm not a James Corden fan, but I have to say he did really well in The Prom. He had some very emotional scenes and I was actually surprised how good he was.

Maybe because there are lots of real gay men who are actors and who need a break in the industry.

People on GoldDerby forums have mentioned her meeting with the HFPA members, taking pictures and giving a private performance so, that explains the nominations. :rip:
