And from looking at the state of the EU Covid Crisis we're coping on a similar level yet our Government and Health workers have definitely pulled the cat out of the bag on the Vaccinations while the EU signed deal months too late. Something should have been signed months ago to allow potential vaccines in and out of N.Ireland. They have done well on vaccines but its only their FIRST jag. 10m people have had their first jag, they aren't vaccinated until they've had their second one. Scotland would get a hard border, lose its currency, have to fund its own universities, free prescription medicine, free sanitary wear etc that even we in the rest of the UK don't get. It would manage it but it wouldn't be better off with the EU. And there's no Guarantee they'd get a Deal as all the EU want is its waters and Scottish fishermen would be fuming if Nicola sacrifices their livelyhoods. Ah and of course. You do realise they would be talks between the rUK gov, Scots and the EU over the border issue. I am fully aware Scotland would fund what we pay for, at least our money wouldn’t be doing to Tory donors. “Once in generation...” is a load of unionist bullsh*t. It was an off the cuff remark plus we voted to remain in the EU. We could set up an agreement that stops a hard border. There would be a custom checks, but nothing drastic. And setting up a currency isn't too complicated as other countries have set them up within 3-6 months. We already have a reserve bank. We would be better off in the EU. That's a fact. Most of our exports and imports could go directly to the EU without having to go through England, and the EU is the single biggest customs market in the world. The general feeling in the EU is that they'd welcome Scotland with open arms (as the French PM said "viva la libre Écosse"). We'll have everything you'll loose as being outside the EU, plus everything we lost as being part of the UK. We get all the decisions that we vote for, we have our own fiscal powers, we have our own powers, we have our own pandemic response... we'll be far better off out of the UK and in the EU. You're welcome to join us In the N.Ireland constitution, it states that a border poll can be held within every 7 years and it defines a generation as 7 years. Also, a lot has happened politically since 2014. So actually, a generation was up. But if we are being truthful here, "once in a generation" was never agreed upon and was never signed legally. You're way more integrated into the UK than we ever were into the EU. Many big business and Banks in scotland are British owned in part or full and it would be horrific for those businesses unless you get a very good deal. If you think Brexit is a mess wait and see how Scotland will have it. It took 3 years for a Brexit deal. Don't expect the Remaining UK countries Governments to make it easy as they wouldn't, they'd love to see Nicola Sturgeon suffer and fight for her deal as she has undermined Boris and the Tories at every opportunity. It would drag out for years and no one would be better off. On the matter of Borders there would be custom checks and this is causing Chaos in NI already. Dunno why you guys would want that for yourselves but good luck. Genuinely I mean it, I have many Scottish work colleagues and they dread the idea of Scotland leaving the Union.
