This is so bizarre. Like they know this is probably his last album and are very aware of it. Also because he’s a legendary jazz singer in his 90’s and still performing. Tony deserves to go in peace and in his sleep, can’t imagine him and the family having to go through that and see a loved one deteriorate day by day.

It states in the article that Tony's team wanted to make sure people were aware of why he wasn't doing press. It's also a very bittersweet thing that he still loves music and it's an integral part of his last days that he's still recording an album and finding joy in performing. Gaga's name is usually mentioned in secondary headlines/follow up stories to the initial news; the bulk of the headlines are simply about Tony.

I don't think there's anything wrong with the way his team handled it. They were going to have to reveal his diagnosis no matter what, and if anything it may have been harder to reveal it closer to the album date to explain why he wasn't doing promo. I suppose the news could have been revealed earlier, but it may not have been the right time & also with the election, etc. and at the height of COVID they had good reason to hold back.

Yeah, obviously this was his family's decision, as it should be. They clearly put a lot of thought into, and asked Gaga what she thought beforehand as well. 

I think it makes sense. If the album wasn't coming they wouldn't have said anything I don't think. And if they just revealed he had alzheimer's but didn't mention the album til later that would make the announcement weird. People would be like, 'what? I thought he was sick?'. This way frames it as a purposeful choice because he can't promote, but still presents the album as something he wanted to do and is actually therapeutic for him. I think it was very well handled.

Yes it was pretty weird, the article is talking about him and his Alzheimer's and all of a sudden in the middle it says "oh and by the way another album with Gaga is coming out soon, of and there will also be a documentary", that's a weird and random revelation

How is it weird? He is a lifelong singer, why would they not mention his upcoming work that will likely be his last?

Because there hasn't been an official announcement, imagine how weird it would be if there was an article about Gaga's fibromyalgia and they casually said in the middle that she would release an album in two months, without futher details.

Idk I don’t find that weird because most of the artists i listen to are small so they don’t do huge extravagant album rollouts. Besides it was not like an official announcement or press release, it was mostly vague & there have been rumours of her working on/releasing a new jazz album for years.
