It’s ALWAYS the ****ing right-wing that claims voter fraud, undermines democracy when they don’t get their way, and threatens/enacts military intervention.

Probably because most things left of center are either popular or populist.

I'm not going to pretend to know the first thing about Myanmar's society, government, or people but I assume they all want to live free and stable lives which is what left wing politics (to an extent) around the world works for.

Whimsical bitch

Let me remind you of the political AND military interventions of USSR honey.

The extremists are on the both sides of the spectrum

The USSR was an authoritarian dictatorship traipsing under the guise of proletarianism and socialism

They were still left-wing extremists. Like what are you trying to say here? That USSR and the other communist countries weren't left-wing oriented?

  the Burmese is those people who commited massacre on Rohingyas in their spare times. While Aung San is that bitch who turned ind eye in that crisis. So whatever, maybe they deserve this.

No,we have never committed any massacre on any people in our spare time.We have been under the rule of the military regimen for 60 years and we the people have been suffered so much , you people will never understand because your lives are so blessed by freedom .So please don’t judge others unless you are in our shoes. We don’t deserve this and we wish no other country will suffer the same fate as us.I hope I never see people like you in my life ever again

But it’s the military that committed atrocities against Muslim.

They are the ones seizing control.

Aung San might have been ineffectual but this is certainly terrible news for Myanmar. :bear:

Yeah, I feel like some people who aren't familiar with the situation don't understand that the military (and the new President) are far worse than Suu Kyi & will be even crueler towards Muslims (and everyone in the country). When it comes to politics in the area, it's not boiled down to "good guys" and "bad guys."

I feel so badly for the everyday people in the country.

Technically it’s neither, the politics that went into the USSR were a lot more complicated than those labels. Much like how China is run by the communist party, but they have taken to capitalism and trade and abandoned a lot of those earlier notions. It’s all very complex, as most politics are.

it should be no different to how we don’t point at Nazis as an example of socialism gone wrong when the party paraded as a nationalist socialism

Well that would be true, but the Nazi’s were short-lived compared to generations for the UUSR, so there’s just more complexity to the discussion all-around

The 1945/1950s URSS that commited all sorts of extremists actions against Ukrainians, Romanians and other ethnicities was left-wing extremism. No regime is ever one full thing as well (because in practice elements from all sorts of doctrines and ideologies are bound to be combined).

The extreme exists on both sides of the spectrum.

Not denying that, just trying to clarify about labels

Getting out is harder. The military prevents people from trying to leave so international organizations try to rescue refugees by trying to sneak them out in the middle of the dark by helicopter in the jungle, even then they can often get caught, captured or shot down.
