FC Barcelona to take legal action after Messi $674M 4-year contract leaked

FC Barcelona (futbol club) say they will take "appropriate legal action" against Spanish newspaper El Mundo after it published details of forward Lionel Messi's $674M contract.

According to El Mundo, Messi's four-year contract agreed in November 2017 was worth a possible 555,237,619 euros ($674M) until 30 June, 2021. 

It means the 33-year-old would be receiving up to $169M a season.

Barcelona said in a statement that they "regret" its publication, adding: "FC Barcelona categorically denies any responsibility for the publication of this document, and will take appropriate legal action against the newspaper El Mundo, for any damage that may be caused as a result of this publication."

On one hand I'd say good for him, why not take that much money if the club can pay it. On the other I think the fact he's offered that much to play soccer is part of everything that's wrong with the system.

Its absolutely absurd the amount of money footballers get paid for kicking a ball about a pitch for 90 minutes. They get paid way too much

They will stop paying them that amount of money when those 9-5 workers stop worshipping them, watching them on TV, buying their t shirts and spending enormous amount of money on tickets to see their matches

Why does any human being need 600+million dollars? Like, good for him, but it's such an unnecessary amount of money.

I don't think celebrities are bad for having money and not using it better, but i do think it could go to better things, Messi does not need 600 million dollars, the amount of good things that could be done with that money.

What do extremely rich people spend their money on after a certain point? After I travel, buy a few houses around the world, maybe a private plane and a car or two... I wouldn't know what to do with the rest?

I think at that point it's just some type of greediness and the yearning for being more powerful, even if it's materially impossible for them to spend all that money. It must be some kind of Diogenes syndrome applied to money.

Im sorry but he is not worth half a billion for what he does, he's not that great, the greatest of this generation is 100% Ronaldo and stats show it. Also yeah Messi has such a big ego with obsessed fans, i think his stardom inflated his price
