Theres 2 things that could be seen as filler:

#1 not as good a song. Maybe lazy, mediocre etc just to add track volume

Or...

#2 not necessairily bad or mediocre but may not be very relevant to album theme. Maybe the track is good but still a filler in the sense that its purpose is just to add track numbers. For example so many of us loved "Dancin In Circles" on Joanne so it wasnt a bad track but legit it had nothing to do with her aunt Joanne, clearly a filler, a good filler, but still a filler

In fact most of the Joanne album had nothing to do with the core theme now that i think about it :flop:

Joanne was about Gaga’s struggles in her 30s, DIC was very relevant to Joanne because the song is about Gaga’s struggling with her fibromyalgia and unable to have sexxx and having to touch herself and missing the touch of her lover, very relevant to the general feel of that album.

How is Replay a filler on Chromatica? Mental pain is at the very core of the album. “The scars on my mind are on replay.” She couldn’t be any clearer if she tried. :oprah: Are people just listing the songs they don’t like?

I thought the album was about her aunt this whole time :bradley:

No, it’s paying homage to her family and her struggles in life.

In  2008 interview with Marie Claire UK Beyonce said, "I'm sure people think I wrote it about [Jay Z] or something, but... the obvious person is not the person at all."
A few years later, it was revealed that Ne-Yo actually wrote the song and Beyoncé only contributed to the background harmonies.

She probably isn't too much involved in writing and this is why she wasn't nominated for Oscar for “Listen”despite she was credited as co-writer.

fillers are songs that add nothing to the album, they are just there with no memorable moments

Typical examples for fillers: Summerboy, Teeth, Jewels N Drugs, Swine, Sinners Prayer

Born This Way and Chromatica are really the only Gaga albums with no fillers where you can fully enjoy the album from the beginning to the end

There might be weaker songs on them but they are not really out of the context they fit in with the album concept

Summerboy, a filler? :neyde: and Teeth? :rip: why not Shallow since you're at it

A filler song is not necessarily a bad song. It's just a song that's mediocre, forgettable, doesn't bring anything new to the table. And if it wasn't present on the album, it would be no great loss. They can be most prevalent on short albums as if there was a lack of inspiration once all the best songs/single material were written and the clock was ticking to release it so something was flung together in a few minutes to get it to at least a standard album length. They sometimes become singles but most of the time, they don't as they're just designed to pad out an album, hence the name. To me, while not a necessary requirement to make a song a filler, the sign of a definite filler song is a song that after you've heard it, you completely forget the tune and the lyrics, even if you just heard it yesterday. For the lack of avoiding arguments, I won't name names but there a few artists who I've had this experience with and no matter how many times I hear certain songs of theirs, I can't remember a single thing about it afterwards bar its title. And one of them was mentioned a few pages ago. If it's in one ear and straight out the other, no matter how many times you've heard it, that's the definition of filler.

yeah idk who thought she wrote "most" of that song, he was credited the whole time

the Listen situation is similar to when Gaga wasn't nominated for the Golden Globe for Til It Happens to You, because they have a stipulation that you have to have written a certain percentage of the song. i assume the Oscar has a similar rule though it's clearly a different percentage (Gaga was nominated for the Oscar while Beyoncé was nominated for the Globe for Listen, as well as a song from Cadillac Records and Spirit from The Lion King). idk each group's specific rules but she clearly is involved in the process.
