Honestly, I can respect people that choose The Fame as their favorite Gaga era. I’ve seen comments on various platforms where if someone would say this, there would be people say stuff like ‘ow but she’s released ever since’ ‘ow well you need to get up to date and move on’ ‘ow but she’s done more grandiose things’ but you see, The Fame, even though not my favorite, has indeed something very special and unique about it and Michelle in a way pointed out one aspect of that which is the roughness and the hunger she had during those days. It was the excitement and the new of it all not to mention how INCREDIBLE the songs are and the concept of the album and how she and her team executed it all with not a lot of money really which is quite ironic in a way because you think of fame and you immediately associate it with opulence and money yet the era ( to me at least ) never once, for a second, feels like it lacks a budget or that they were short on cash or that she wasn’t given all the resources which as a new artist lets be real, she wasn’t but they made all the right great decisions with what they had. And the other irony of the era was the fact that she was NOT famous at all when creating it so you could say she was talking out of her Uranus and tabloid papers for the entirety of the record. But doesn’t that make it SO perfect and incredible indeed? The Fame is a parody of what it means to be a pop star and the fantasy of it all, Gaga imagining how it would be like and I always caught onto it. The Fame Monster on the other hand is the reality of her experience with it. Which again, HOW AMAZING IS IT THAT SHE DID THAT as the continuation? Ugh. The genius. I can’t, yes Michelle, I understand your choice.

I agree with her. Gagas confidence and presence were fierce at the beginning of her career. There was a real lust for success and rawness to her performances.

Now she's more polished and laid back which is still good. It's still Gaga, she's just grown.

The thing with Gaga is she has been through so many iterations that everybody will have their favourite version. I bet y'all didn't expect Alan to say Joanne 😉 A lot of people really love that album. When you drown out the constant blabbing from gheys about That album then you know that it means a lot to people. I was following a comedienne during the pandemic. Her mom was sadly dying in a nursing home and she could only see her pass through facetime. She tweeted about what music she was playing to her mom and she said the one that choked her up the most was Joanne (the song).

The thing I love about being her fan is í really don't have to have a favourite. It's all there any time I want to dip in and out of.

Loved watching this! I really thought Alan was going to say ARTPOP because of how beloved the DWUW performance is.

When she comes to the UK again which won't be for ages, I hope Alan interviews her again because he's done a lot of eras: The Fame, Born This Way, ARTPOP and Joanne so I'd love to see them together again.

It makes me increasingly irritated how Michelle and Ru go to UK to film and all of a sudden they’re faking British accents and saying British expressions/slang , like girl you’re NJ trash like me, you ain’t posh.

That was so many moons ago I wasn't following Gaga yet.  But after discovering TF and TFM I really love them.  As you say, it's amazing she did THAT.  I also love her interviews from that time.

I live outside the space time continuum.
