EU trade commissioner told a news conference the export monitoring and controls are “time limited”, initially lasting until the end of March, and applied to COVID-19 vaccines the EU had bought in advance. The bloc could block the export of a vaccine if it determined that this could undermine the EU’s own supplies. Drugmakers will have to request export authorisation in the EU country where the vaccine is manufactured. That country would consult with the Commission to take a decision in two working days. "The protection and safety of our citizens is a priority and the challenges we now face left us with no choice but to act," the European Commission said. The controls will affect some 100 countries worldwide - including the UK, the US, Canada and Australia - but many others, including poorer nations, are exempt. Vaccination is too damn slow in Europe, it's not going to work, there are going to be new variants out there developping and the vaccinations will be completely almost useless. Pfizer, a U.S. company, developed the best vaccine out there and is working with BioNTech to get it manufactured in Germany and Belgium, yet the EU has the motherf*cking AUDACITY to pull this sh*t?! Itll all be resolved. Its the EU's own fault for dragging their heels with manufacturing sites with astrazeneca, and now they want ours. Europe. I know big shocker. The US production and EU production are completely separated. Anyway this is just Europe bluffing since Astra-Zeneca will not be delivering what they promised, while the UK has been getting their vaccines aka maybe they the vaccines intended for EU were send to the UK. Most of you just left a 4 year Trump administration where he made fun of europe, was petty, and not respectful of the relationship between the US and the rest of the Western countries. I think that Europe must also take its interests into account with regard to its historical allies such as the United Kingdom or the United States who are doing same.
