Chromatican 4,046
Just now, xoxo Craig said: Yes it did. Back in cave man times, nobody told these people what were food and what was not. And they didn't come up with it. They hunted and they ate meat. Granted, the animals they ate are extinct... but humans eating meat has always been the natural order. Just like other animals eat other smaller animals, who eat smaller animals, who eat other smaller animals and so on. You are thinking of all animals being the same, which is wrong. Not all animals are the same, and its not natural to treat them all the same. A wild boar can't be treated the same as a wild tree frog from Brazil. We have always known what animal was food and what animal was not food, and its not a concept we came up with - its the natural order and natural selection of the world. Religion is something that humans came up with. Religious bases cultures in which they worship animals such as cows and pigs is something created by humans. Its not the natural order of things, but if that's their culture and religion then that's what they should believe as its upto them. Nature did not designate which animals were food by a decree from God. Early humans ate animals to survive. In the 21st century, hunting and murdering animals is no longer needed for our survival. In fact, the scientific consensus is that animal consumption is now a net negative on human health and our planet. I’m not saying all animals are the same. I’m only saying every animal, regardless of species has the right to live a life in accordance with its species and not be killed for sport, food or skin. That’s far different than thinking every animal is exactly the same. Religion also evolved based on geography and human circumstance in the same way our consumption patterns did. A culture that eats dogs is not inferior to a culture that massacres cattle. Killing any animal under any circumstance that is not self defense or a medical necessity is cruel, regardless of species. It did though. Its called the foodchain and actually, its not just about us but every living thing on this earth. Its science, its biology. Religion is something that humans created to explain unimaginable events, and overtime they evolved and went global. Most religions are founded upon the same values and beliefs. But it's a social construct that divides people. That's what religion is. I realise that you are religious and so I won't be continuing on this conversation out of respect for your views. I’m not religious, and the existence of a food chain doesn’t negate the arguments I made. Humans are evolved animals that can make moral decisions, and just a few minutes of factory farming footage will illustrate the issue with mass production of meat products pretty clearly. The food chain of old didn’t take into account mass produced jerky, spam or dairy products.

Anti-Speciesism wouldn’t advocate that any more than Anti-homophobia would mandate that we all need to be in same sex relationships. In other words, that’s not at all what the conclusion is there. This conversation is about humans destroying natural ecosystems and mass marketing animals for daily consumption... as if Humans are the only thing the Earth needs to sustain itself. Hell, the earth doesn’t need these ecosystems. WE need these ecosystems. That's not the conversation here at all... the protest is to end speciesism. Ecology is very different from the humanization of all living creatures (or "de-humanization" of humans). IDGAF
