Ehh idk about this, the movie franchise was very iconic and acclaimed so I don’t see a reason to adapt the source material again, unless it’s not actually an adaptation of the books but a spin off.

The book series that desperately needs a new adaptation is Percy Jackson, such incredible books that were disrespected with two atrocious movies. It pains me when I mention it and people just think of those demonic films.

Percy Jackson is getting a Disney plus series

They butchered and spat on the source material so much I wonder why Rick Riordan didn’t sue those screenwriters let’s just say that :smh: It’s like they read the summary in the back of the book and said “well let’s do that!”

I mean, they didn’t even keep the actual ages of the characters, and their growth throughout the series is central to the story like in Harry Potter :saladga:

It’s confirmed the author is much more involved this time in the project; In scripts and casting too. It’s gonna be live action and each season will cover one of the books

No need for this tho. Haven't they learned from what happenned to Star Wars? HP saga concluded magnificently ten years ago, let it rest. There's no need for this imo. Their focus should be on fixing the FB franchise.

Those companies will do anything for some quick coins

You all crazy for the films because u grew up on them but if you watch them with a critical eyes you see how terrible they are, they aged badly.

A tv adaption can finally do justice to the books and open up the world that was cut in the films and can give more development to many characters that had 1 hour screen time in all the movies or 10 minutes maybe..

The more I'm watching tv adaptions of books the more I'm understating that this is the best format for them and not movies.

You can actually see the movie/the series adaption differences for Series of Unfortunate Events and have your own opinion.

The only thing that can't be topped is the soundtrack, McGonagall, Snape and Molly Weasley :whitney:

Oriane

I'm here for something about the rest of the Wizarding World, not the Harry Potter storyline. I heard a few years ago about a concept of a series about the Marauders, it would be so cool.

based on...? i mean, it's your opinion. HP might be the only film franchise in which every single movie has quality and replay value. From a cinematic point of view, although some special effects from the first two movies might be dated, the art direction, editing, cinematography, score and direction are top notch. Sure, they're far from being perfect. But my opinion as a cinema student (which doesn't make my opinion more or less valid than yours, it just gives me more arguments for my opinions), the movies are far from being bad, or having age badly.

I don't know what people were expecting from The Winx. Cheesey costumes and cheesey transformations?

I wonder what character it'll be about. We got a spinoff about Grindelwald and Dumbledore, how about a female-fronted spinoff about Nymphadora Tonks? :legend:Any show about the Aurors could be really cool

It always baffles me how weirdly protective people are with the movies. The Harry Potter character showed little to any growth from his introduction as a young boy to his last year in school. I don't even want to get into what they did to Hermione who actually devolved as the series moved forward the only character that showed real growth was Neville of all people. I'm not talking about the books just the movies exclusively.

Also HBO very rarely puts a bad show on TV. I have enjoyed GOT and His Dark Materials. As well as many comedies and other TV shows.

I get that a tv series is a more appropiate format to adapt books. But calling the Harry Potter films "terrible"...

You may not like them but the films capture the essence of the books and are also great stand-alone films, you can watch almost any of the films without watching the others and still get most of what's happening (something that doesn't work with other movie sagas). Of course they don't explore half of the things that are told in the books, but that's because they're film adaptations.

The actors are great, of course the kids are kids, but the adults are mostly great all-time british actors.

And they didn't age badly. Maybe the first 2 movies don't have very good special effects, but that's because they were made 20 years ago. From movie 3-8 the special effects are great.

I See You
