Mass riots (again) in The Netherlands

And the worst part is that we had the weakest COVID-19 measures in the wold for the longest time and this is the first time we have a strict lockdown with curfew. It's just... Literally nobody is scared of the police here in NL and there is so much disrespect to the police. That's all because they are not allowed todo anything that heavy to stop these riots or other cases and they are underpaid so there are not enough people todo the needed work. I'm strongly against guns, but these brainless people making me close to wishing some of them getting a bullet in the knee.

Thought to put this in perspective, yes, these are some troublesome pictures and situations, but it's not even close to what happened with BLM riots and the things that happened in France with Les Gilets Jaunes.

Head Empty

After almost a year of hearing about riots in other countries, I finally get to experience the anxiety for myself.

How enlightening :bear:

I hate this world.

This pandemic has shown that Western civilization is actually not as civilized as they’d like to think when faced with an inconvenience.

These people are truly the lowest of the society.

Funny thing, if you look at the comments who are in favour of these protest and say that the media is framing them, are mostly white housewives. :derpga:

I'm from the Netherlands but we don't claim this........ It's always gotta be the people who put the blame on anyone but themselves....

I think a lot of you forget that humans are social creatures, it is literally in our nature and DNA. Even if restrictions are necessary, you have to understand that riots will happen sooner or later. It has almost been a year and it will likely stay that way for another year and a half.

Not when Sweden exists :laughga: We were the only country without a lockdown in any shape or form.

Stupid Oreo

Where are the parents of these people? And don't see this as a racist comment, but why are these all the same types of people that did this in different cities:saladga:

I barely slpet last night because I was afraid something would happen here too

**** these people.

But also: **** the government. For putting us in a semi-lockdown for four months getting stricter and stricter over time with no end in sight, no perspective and blaming the youth for all problems. We should've implemented the measures now in place back in early October. We would've had at least one month of relative freedom, in December or in January. Thousands less would've died, hundreds of thousands less would've been infected. We're also the slowest in vaccinating people of all western countries. But somehow the government is going to crush it in the elections in two months :toofunny:  this whole pandemic failure (and possibly even worse: it's nearly taboo to criticize the govt's policies for being too weak and too slow) makes me want to move to a different country.

For outsiders: imagine having a government that was anti-mask until ****ing november :toofunny: you don't even have to quarantine after a positive test, there is no punishment or law for it. It's just an advice. Result? 21% of people who tested positive just go outside. Imagine!

On a positive note, random people showed up by themselves this morning to clean up the mess

I seriously don't get this :air: i'm from Belgium so i follow the NL's covid situation from time to time and it's literally the first time that they enforced some proper rules there :smh: this is honestly so embarrassing and sad because other countries have had way worse restrictions and they are rioting cause they have a curfew for the first time :lmao:pathetic, do these people just not care about other people dying?

Buy ARTPOP on itunes or smth?

A protest I can understand (actually I can't because of COVID but let me be open-minded :selena:). But mass riots, for COVID measures? :triggered:

I think people aren't doing this bc of the measures and stuff but to literally make war for no reason. Why would you put buildings and cars on fire just because you have a curfew at 9? This is ridiculous.

Seems like it's going pretty well for Rutte though... let's see how the childcare benefits scandal affects the result but so far Dutch people seem content with the management of the pandemic.

Why do you feel like this is happening? Is it the general case of parties in government gaining support because of the pandemic, his stance on the EU Next Generation recovery fund or is there something else? I'm really interested in Dutch politics and would like to get an insight from somebody who's from there. :)
