"The COVID-19 variant that was first identified in the UK may be more deadly than the original virus, the prime minister has warned.

At the Downing Street news conference on Friday, Boris Johnson said: "There is some evidence that the new variant may be associated with a higher degree of mortality."

First identified in Kent, the variant is thought to be more than 70% more transmissible."

this is why I haven't seen my family since March nor have I been inside a grocery store or really anywhere other than in my apartment with my stepdad

I know the vaccines should still be effective with the new variant, but I just hope we are all taking this seriously bc it is just getting worse day by day

Agreed... he allowed this to mutate by not locking down. And why didn't he tell us this ages ago when the data was released? There was a reason why every country banned UK travel... and it wasn't because its more transmissible
