she represents beauty standards that are on the verge of becoming old-fashioned: she‘s white, able-bodied and owns body features that were the norm.

she is talented and very hard-working no doubt but it‘s a little narrow-minded to believe that the way she looks has had no significant impact on her career ..

Able-bodies will NEVER become old-fashioned.

We are 6 pages in and no one and not even Dua fans have brought this up yet but Dua literally was told to lose weight when trying to be a model (in which she refused). I don't think it's impossible she legit didn't find herself pretty when she's being told stuff like losing weight :selena::selena::selena::selena::selena::selena:

Please not quoting the entire thread :air: iconic moves

I mean. I don't want to discredit anything that she's been through. But the entire toxic world of modelling is built around telling people to get thinner. So it wasn't anything directed at her attractiveness. She wouldn't have tried out for modeling if she didn't think she was attractive in the first place

chaeri pls

It’s a sociological fact that physically attractive people have things easier in life. She’s either lying or totally obvious to reality.

There is alot of beautiful people that have done nothing with their lives. It might be easier for a beautiful hardworking person than an average hardworking person but you must have the hardworking part otherwise there is nothing.

What does being pretty have to do with weight?

there is part where she was talking about it and it was about doing runway :
At 16 she started modeling, until a manager said that she’d need to lose weight to do runway. “I don’t want to do catwalk,” she told them. “The only reason I’m in this is to make contacts. I just really want to eat Krispy Kreme.”

Well it’s part of beauty standards, what your body looks like.
