This is the textbook definition of a false or misleading statement :poot:

Difficult to quantify education and healthcare quality ???

Therefore, the addition 'drain' on the the people is justified how?

I don't know what you're talking about but do mention one state when the taxes are low (by what standards?) and the level of education is high (again, by what standards?)

Many members here are part of the "eat the rich" party :fan: including myself :fan:

Rich people are the biggest leeches on our society, no question. Low wages, high prices, lower general tax revenue, lobbying to cut regulations that protect workers' rights and the environment...I have no trouble saying f*ck 'em all :laughga:

That's what I'm leaning on here...

Liberal only sources won't give you an accurate view of things..

neither will Conservative leaning media...

Exactly .... so the constant 'increasing' of taxes hasn't benefited anyone but the political leaders imo.

Higher taxes rates do not equal better education or healthcare ..

so...

how is it justified to continually 'increase' taxes if there is no actual benefit to the general economy?

Many states provide quality services without nearly the same rates that Califorinia has..

Clear ?

My point is the opposite, that's why I asked you to name one single state in which the taxes are 'low' and the level of education is 'high', and to clarify by which standards are you judging the 'highness' or 'lowness' of these two things.

I don't know how to look that up...

Can you show me where high tax rates correlates to higher quality healthcare and education?

That's probably because there is no true conservative outlet

There's liberals/Democrats who support taxing wealth and using tax dollars to create safety nets for people who need them and there's Republicans that do everything they can to protect corporate profits.

I don't personally believe economic conservative values are bad. A world where the average Joe is able to work and earn by their own merit, make a good living, go to good schools, pay for everything themselves, and have enough to save for retirement is a perfectly valid goal. But there are literally ZERO politically significant figures in the US that are actually fighting for that view.

Just do one thing or the other. And it seems the only viable option today is to make the rich pay their fair share and use that money to pay for the services the public needs.

I pay 22% income tax and I'm hovering around the poverty line. It is not fair or equal that people who have 6+ figure bank accounts, salaries, or net worths are not only paying NOTHING, they're getting refunds AND corporate welfare which is OUR money:madge:

And that's why I'm team #EatTheRich

I don't have to, because you were the one that said "Other states have better education and healthcare yet their tax rates are lower....". The burden of proof is on you, not me.

A wealth tax is a good thing. That should be implemented on a National scale. Most extremely wealthy people’s wealth is tied up in assets and not necessarily income, so this is actually more equitable.

Generally speaking, higher taxes are a good thing, namely on large corporations and high income earners.

I think taxing capital gains at a much fairer rate would be fair easier to manage than a wealth tax tho. A wealth tax is much more complicated, much more beaureocracy, and will encourage more hidden types of assets

Most countries that at some point had a wealth tax ended up scrapping it. It always turned out to not yield as much cash as anticipated and was always a logistical mess to manage

Traditional taxes are simpler to manage and already have a system in place. Just make the rates higher that are too low and close unnecessary tax loop holes

No complicated logistics or beaureocracy needed to do that

We can solve this easily.

these-are-the-mostly-highly-educated-sta

California, Oregon, and several New England states have the highest tax burdens. They're also among the best educated.

I doubt there's a direct correlation between taxes and education but...yeah :laughga:

I agree, many politicians protect corporate profits to line their own pockets in campaign donation ect...

Many Democrats do the same thing..

Blaming conservatives to this current state of political corruption is simply party loyalty ...

The tax code favors the corporations because the 'buy' legislative decisions ...

Its not a 'conservative' tenent any more than taxing everyone to death is a liberal one ...

The propaganda that opposing candidates throw at each other dilute the real problems .
