Travellers banned from arriving in UK from South America and Portugal

A ban on travellers to the UK from South America and Portugal will come into force on Friday due to a new Covid variant identified in Brazil.

British and Irish citizens and foreign nationals with residence rights will still be able to travel but must isolate for 10 days.

The ban applies to people who have travelled from, or through, Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Cape Verde, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Suriname, Uruguay and Venezuela in the last 10 days.

Not at all, until June/July here in Britain we could go anywhere in the world and walk back into the country. Borders are not shut

I also don't think they've tested people coming through airports. It's crazy.

No they didn’t, the Government said at the time they expected people to self isolate. My Boyfriend in October went to Poland to his family and he came back and had to self isolate but he went through the airport and two buses. It is insane the Government is doing the bare minimum

I think they mean the borders should have been closed in every country since March.
