Scotland launches pro-EU international ad campaign

The official Twitter account of the country of Scotland has launched several ads in different EU languages declaring their allyship to the EU, despite the UK leaving the union 12 days again. This ad is in German and translates to: "We won't forget old friends. Great Britain might leave the EU, but Scotland will always be on your side Europe. #ScotlandIsNow"

Campaigning for a new referendum and Scotland entering the EU as a sovereign nation I see

I don't think its legally possible within the EU constitutional framework for Scotland to have automatic membership upon independence, is it?

As it stands, Scotland is out of the EU thanks the UK. If Scotland was independent, we'd tell the EU that we want full membership of the EU again. Then it will be put forward to the European Parliament for each member country to vote on. It is unlikely that a county would veto an Independent Scotland in the EU. The rest of EU nations will vote and if they vote yes, then Scotland gets into the EU as an independent county. That's why its imperative that we make a strong case to the rest of EU now so that when we do become independent, it will be a smoother transition than a full new unknown member to the EU as we already have established connections with being in the EU already

It would take time for us to join the EU but when we are in the waiting room we can join the EFTA when our application is getting processed. In the event of a Yes vote we would join quick access to the European Free Trade Association

and EU loves you back! I trully hope to see independent Scotland in our EU family in tbe future.

 

However, Scotland will have to undergo whole accesion process as all other member states took before becoming a full EU member.
