Honestly I'm not sure why the officers didn't have a firearm with blanks they could have shot upwards to disperse/scare the crowd into backing down. I understand why they couldn't fire a real gun at that range/in that closed space because it had a risk of ricocheting into their own men, but no tasers? They could have had cattle prods at least. They could have had cattle prods at least. something I have learned from listening to cops is that shooting upwards is no longer in practice, because they realized that the bullet essentially has to go down too (gravity amirite) and might injure somebody unrelated to riots because the bullet might come down a mile or two from where it was fired. the "good" practice is really shoot into empty spaces or essentially: shoot into the mass. When other protestors protest (such as BLM), their reply is "they're bad", but when they launch an insurrection their reply is "it's not us, it's them". I'm not sure how you could be able to engage in any actual debate with them.
