Jimmy Iovine Sells Production Catalog to Hipgnosis Songs

Jimmy Iovine : a cofounder of both Interscope Records and the Beats by Dre headphone empire, and an Apple Music executive sold his production catalog.

Hipgnosis Songs, which has invested more than $1.5 billion in music catalogs in just two and a half years, announced that it has acquired 100% of Iovine’s catalog of worldwide producer royalties, comprising 259 songs, and his film production royalties for the Eminem-starring “8 Mile” and 50 Cent’s “Get Rich or Die Tryin’.” Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Deets. I haven't heard much about him, I just know he was made racist and misogynists comments to Dawn Richard:

That’s the thing! I only heard one story but it is from a sketchy source and I never see anyone else talk about it but he generally seems to have a gross misogynistic attitude.

the group Die Antwoord has mentioned it, they even included a skit on one of their albums that is apparently a recreation of when Yolandi was called into Jimmy Iovine’s office and he asked her to sit on his lap among other things.

The thing is Die Antwoord have also done/been accused of controversial stuff so it’s hard to be 100% on this because they love to stir up **** but apparently it is part of the reason why they left interscope.

Hipgnosis is misleading, it's only about released songs' royalties. Not masters of unreleased songs.

Yeah, it's hard to know when people like that are being real or not. Didn't some girl say she was trafficked by them? You would think if they were upset at one of their band members getting sexually harassed, they'd not be ok with an underage girl getting sexually assaulted by a bandmate. That said, I wouldn't want to disbelieve her if it did happen though.

Yes Zheani was a girl that Ninja paid to come to South Africa & he drugged and assaulted her. The thing about DA is they are very hypocritical and protective of their own, so despite the fact that they are garbage people I do feel like Yolandi’s experience with Jimmy Iovine shouldn’t be completely discounted.

But as i’ve never seen anyone else talk about it I don’t want to jump to any concrete conclusions. But like I said he has been publicly unpleasant in various ways
