Gaga is an actress now

Now, my reputation of bad takes precedes me and maybe you're prone to LMAOing me without reading much, but hear me out.

We know that Gaga is an actress. She began to be widely considered as one after starring on AHS 5 (she got the title of "actress" on her Wikipedia article around this time too) and more so after winning the Golden Globe. Her status was further consolidated when he starred on ASIB and won a Best Actress nomination. I know she's an actress, but she's not an actress in the way she promotes her image, she's still a pop star in that regard. Pop stars and musicians in general tend to be more present in media inbetween album cycles, and much more present during album promotion cycles than actors are during the promotion of new films. If you stan any actor, you know they barely appear on media if they're not promoting something, and this isn't out of lack of interest, it's because Hollywood is a much more inward industry than the recording industry. Actors tend to spend more time living more privately in their big mansions and hanging out with each other as privately as they can instead of searching for promotion opportunities everywhere, because they don't have to. They are not the only/more prominent name attached to a given project. A solo artist's name is, however, the more prominent name attached to their albums and singles, so the promotional strategy varies greatly because it's much more intertwined with the public image/persona of the artist.

After the mess the Chromatica era was, my opinion is that Gaga decided to shift her persona from a pop star to an actress. She won't appear in media as much as she used to in-between/during album cycles, and will instead focus on her personal life and/or next films. She may release new albums from time to time but I wouldn't expect any other TFs or BTWs, especially not promotion-wise, but more like the albums that are released by Andrea Bocelli or Barbra Streisand. Once in a while, with little promotion (maybe with some stand-alone live performances here and there), created mainly for an adult-elderly demographic, but very successful nonetheless. This is the reason she doesn't seem that interested in continuining with the era, and honestly this alternative sounds way more in line with her mental health needs (not that I know her exact needs, just speaking out of what she said) than feeding the gays ad nauseam.

I dont know what the point here is tbh , gaga has never been one to be in the spotlight unless she had something to promote so based on your analysis  , she has always been an " actress "?

Bonkers

I would say her primary identity is a pop star.   But she's in that category of women who "can do it all".  Like Cher and Madonna.  But I agree she's accepted as a legitimate actress now and people are looking forward to more movies with her in the lead.

I'm....not*. I always said I prefer her doing whatever she wants and is best for her mental health. I wouldn't mind her going this route because I love both Barbra and Andrea, and I stan many actors. I don't care if she's not promoting Chromatica, I like her for her music not because of the sLaYaGe

* edit: I mean I'm not joining them, not that I'm not smarter than that :rip:

Didn’t she say she wanted to be an actress before she wanted to do music? Like that was her real dream.

Anyway if she wants that now then she better ACT cause I’m bored and thirsty for more Gaga content.

Yes. Among other things.

Popstar, actress, vocalist, song-writer, performer, activist, philanthropist, Italian etc.

She’ll never be defined by one thing! That’s what the Gaga experience is all about!

i agree.

i feel like fans never consider the obligations of fame from an artist's perspective.

the grueling schedule of a really huge album release, the anxiety of being recognized wherever you go, the pressure of having to deliver something great every couple years. i feel like celebrities, but especially musicians, fail to be seen as people. there's this super weird cult of celebrity culture we have in the West, but especially the United States, where everything is transactional – and you see it here on this website all the time. Fans feel like, in exchange for supporting an artist, they are owed something – they're owed visuals, huge performances, they're owed the kind of music they first subscribed to from an artist (in the case of Gaga, electropop), they're owed consistency of release, etc.

And that sucks for creators who don't want that. Someone like Ariana Grande, for example, is known to hate promo. But she loves the music, she loves to make music. So how do you reconcile the burden of fame with a genuine desire (and talent) for music-making? They're merged in our culture, and that sucks.

So I don't blame Gaga at all for, having reached the status she has, for saying, "**** this, I'm over it." Because honestly, fame is destructive and ultimately unsustainable. Everybody needs a break at one point or another.

And she's said herself that she loves acting, so why not transition to that if that's where her interests lie? Rihanna appears to be doing the same thing with music.
