Britney sabotaged her own career in 2004 (if im not mistaken) and came back till 2007 not even being half the icon she was, how is that defining? That's like saying Gaga owned this decaded for having a hit album in 2011 and then coming back again in 2018, it does not add up

The IMPACT matters, not the sales or sth else. Every girl wanted to be like Britney, every boy wanted her as a girlfriend, all the pop acts after her were pressured to be blond, to dance and so on. Even after her breakdown she was a massive hit and had a strong comeback in 2009.

And you are mistaken, she did not sabotaged her career - you can't call a pregnancy SABOTAGE for example  it was a whole other era, paparazzis were crazy and everyone wanted a "Piece of her"
