Is Sour Candy really single worthy?

It'd give a great boost because of blinks. The perfect plan was to release a video before the album came out... BLACKPINK was due to a comeback for months (maybe a year+)... it'd be a hit instantly.

I do think it's a little late but I also think she's planning a 2021 comeback (maybe with more songs? idk) and Sour Candy may be in cards... but I'm think it's gonna be a surprise performance on BLACKPINK's show on January 31st.

Is any post-album single really ever single worthy in the streaming era? I'd love to still see a MV or something for it if to just add to the Chromatica universe.

Yeah, you just have to play your cards right. Watermelon Sugar hit #1 this past August despite being released in November of 2019 and Levitating is shaping up to be a solid hit despite being pushed like over half a year later. I still think it could work. Gaga's been making enough noise post-release to where another hit or two is feasible and the song has a lot going for it.

No it's the worst song on the album (well one of the worst. I love most of the album.)

Of course it can. It´s not like only Gaga Fans listen to her music, because obviously we listen to it when the album comes out. A lot of people just listen to what´s on the charts and they don´t listen to every artists album when it comes out.

I´m like that with other artists too. I don´t really listen to Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift, but sometimes when they have a song on the charts I listen to it if I like the song, even if it was on their records before.

Yes, it is rare but it happens. Look at how far Bad Guy went and it was the 5th single from Billie's debut. I don't think they were expecting much from that song and that's how it works sometimes. They either push it or it randomly happens.

yes but needs a rap part to make it a little longer

but

replay needs to be next following 911 starts with her in the ambulance the start of replay sounds like cars going by so shes losing consciousness and replay is stefani singing to gaga in the first verse then gaga to stefani in the second verse then they become one and she wakes up

I think it's the G.U.Y. of the album. On paper, it's a great single, but might not be in reality.

By contrast, I think Replay would do better especially following 9/11 and RoM as both follow this theme of trauma and healing that SC doesn't really.

Yes. Why not ? I totally see some 'Telephone' possibilities. Because telephone was not as dark as the rest of the record, very cartoonish compared to the rest. So it could even be a very big Gaga single.

Because the hints by her friends on insta (Sour Candy related), her own hints... Nicola saying "the journey continues..." (although I read it more as a goodbye message than a "we'll show more") and the BLACKPINK show.

But right now the only thing I think it's happening is an appearence on BLACKPINK'S show on the 31st.

No it is not single worthy. It's by war the weakest song on Chromatica and does not deserve the hype nor love it gets. I think it was a cute buzz single to hype the album on release day but it needs to stay a buzz single. It's frankly offensive there is a large part of the fan base clamoring for Sour Candy when masterpieces like Replay, Babylon, and Alice are begging for a proper single treatment.

How is an opinion like that offensive? :toofunny:

I'm so confused. Life feels so different now. Pop music feels different too.
