Rihanna has found herself facing a  lawsuit after a pair of German father-daughter musical duo dubbed King Khan and Saba Lou claimed one of their tracks was used in a Fenty ad without their permission.

They allege that RiRi used a track of theirs entitled Good Habits (and Bad) in an Instagram post promoting her Fenty fashion line.

The duo claim that Rihanna did not have their permission to use the track on the ad, theorizing that she just lifted the song from a music streaming platform and are demanding that she stop using their song and are seeking unspecified damages.

The Instagram ad racked up more than 3.4 million views, according to the lawsuit, though it's not clear when the ad debuted.

An Instagram video? Isn't it legal for anyone to use any song?

Anyway, they got free promo and they'll push it further which is understandable

There are no excuses for "mistakes" like this in 2020. It takes zero effort to check your work to ensure all potential copywrite issues are addressed.

Maybe this will push her to make original music for her company moving forward? :flower:

No, you can't. Instagram is deleting posts if they're violating copyright rules.

what they get from this free promo, $0.5 from streams?
Rihanna is a singer and her team should know better how to respect other artists work. No one ask them for permission to use their music, they didn't get any credit. No everyone want to work for free promo.
Would you like to work for someone who would offer you free promo on Instagram as salary ?

Not this mentality in 2020 :saladga: "exposure" does not feed an artist. Dont you see anything wrong with the multihundredmillionnaire artist (or her company) not bothering to pay small artists to put their song in her ad?

chaeri pls
