It’s a wonderful record and despite her fans making fun of it, Gaga truly does feel connected to her aunt. It’s not like she dug up this story just to make an album. She has been mentioning Joanne ever since her career started and their lives are truly intertwined. I mean look at their names!

Stefani Joanne Germanotta

Joanne Stefani Germanotta

:fatcat::heart:

This. I never met my maternal grandfather, but my mom talks about him so dearly I can see how much he meant to her and how important he was in the making of her personality. That made me love him even if I never got to spend time with him. (I hope to meet him if there’s an afterlife...).

I don’t know if maybe because of this I can understand Gaga’s feelings, don’t know if people who haven’t lived similar experiences can’t see it that way. But I always get upset when “fans” mock Gaga over her love for her aunt.

All of that aside, In my opinion, Joanne is the most beautiful and emotional song she ever wrote.

I’ll keep looking for Wonderland

No matter how non-cohesive it feels at times, it is a great album. Her vocals shine, the instrumentals are good too. And the song Joanne is possibly one of her top3 ballads out there.

Spoiler

except for Hey Girl but we don't talk about that :vegas:

So long ggd, it was nice while it lasted.

It's weird how your taste is always flawless but you dislike this great album :sweat:
PS: Slay at you stanning Killers Who Are Partying! Imo it's her second best song since COADF

The singles are good but that’s like it! Can you really stand behind Koocacho :ladyhaha:

PS: YES AGREED! Killers is amazing. I recited those portuguese lyrics to that bitch and she was shook:tony:

"My name is Dita, I'll be your Mistress tonight..."

What a fascinating little oddball album Joanne is. Such a playful, adventurous collection of songs, what a veritable smorgasbord of ideas! There's thrilling and shlocky pastiche (John Wayne, Come to Mama) alongside exercises in genre played straight (Diamond Heart, Million Reasons) and room still for more overt invention (Dancin' In Circles, Hey Girl). There's boppery and dramatic, confessional piano-woman balladeering. There's manic intensity and songs of such simple, mature, and subtle emotional warmth, like Grigio Girls and Just Another Day, that I'm still reeling they came from that Rah Rah Bitch. It's an album that lunges for mainstream, adult contemporary appeal while simultaneously wearing its eclecticism and muso nerdery with pride.

Gaga is yet to better the towering monolith that is Born This Way, but Joanne is the closest she's come to doing it.
