Anyone else just really like Gaga’s music?

Sometimes it seems all this back and fourth that goes on is between people who really want to see Gaga promote Chromatica (and sort of think her business ventures are tacky and ruin her image) and people who want to see Gaga venture out and are excited about her acting / beauty stuff. I wanted to kinda see if anyone else related with me though about what I think about all this:

Obviously I like some good album promo. Performances, music videos, etc. are all great and help me understand her art more. But at the end of the day, I’m not really going to go back on this stuff as much as I do her music. If I had to chose between Gaga doing a Chromatica performance and Gaga releasing more music, I’d chose the latter. And I also don’t really think her doing a makeup brand is that terrible, as long as she also shows interest in her discography. I guess what I’m trying to say is that I’m really just here for the music. I want to hear her, I want to watch her discography grow, I want to hear her evolve musically. For example, 2018 is probably my favorite year of being a Gaga stan. First she dropped the Joanne Piano Version, which gave a whole new light to the song (and I love that I can go to either version and get a different feeling from the same song). Then we got the Your Song cover, which was literally my Summer anthem of 2018. Fall was a crazy ass time, because on top of a whole soundtrack of diverse music, she gave us two covers, I Want Your Love, and Don’t Let Me Be Misunderstood. Idk. That’s kinda the stuff that makes me happy as a stan, and it also helps that I don’t think she could really ever disappoint me with her music (so it’s not about quantity vs quality since I think all her music is important and of quality). I’m always just vibing to her released music and thinking about what’s next. I remember saying in August if she released the Babylon Haus Labs version (with the different vocals, melodies, instruments) I really wouldn’t care what she did for the rest of the year. I still think that way. Like, release your skin care products, release your movies, your music videos... that’s great. And I’ll usually enjoy them too. But I’m really just here for the albums, the singles, the live versions and different takes of music. That’s what gives me that buzz.

i get where you're coming from. and i agree. but for me, her music videos and performances are an irremovable part of her musical identity. she couldn't release a folklore or evermore style album, since so much of what makes her amazing and interesting to me is the whole package (the artwork, outfits, choreo, performances, live concepts, visuals)

Yeah, I feel like a large part of her fan base relates to that. She did create her whole brand on making it more than just the music, which is exactly why she has the fanbase she has now. I mean, I still really like all that stuff. I could talk to you about what my favorite music video is, album cover, etc. because that’s still interesting to me. But even if we didn’t get all that, I’d still be around. That’s kinda why I made this thread to see if there’s anyone out there who thinks like I do. I don’t need all that stuff around if she continues to provide music to her discography.

I would say the same. I don't want music videos and live performances for promotional sake. I'm here for the CONTENT. Sometimes those things help me the understand her songs or like her songs better like they add depth to her art but again those are only complementary, her MUSIC comes in first place.

Exactly. Fans have been asking for this album for so long, and they finally receive a date, which unfortunately was postponed due to COVID. Then they start crying on social media because they need her music and so on. And then she finally releases the album. And yet, fans continue to cry because they want her to promote the album. It's like this fanbase is never satisfied. For me, music is what matters at the end of the day (finally answering the topic).

Honestly i think i really need this album to be promoted in order to enjoy it cause it s not enough as it is. Like, i liked 911 when the album came out but the MV totally elevated the song to a whole other level and now i enjoy the song even more

Agree. I'm not overly bothered about how much promo she does and what kind of promo. I'm here for the music, and I do love the music videos that come too, I can take or leave anything else.

i try to live in black & white but i'm so blue
