Guest
Once the vaccine is in place the virus will stop mutating as quickly
Morphine Prince 109,648
Summary: It is spreading faster than the most common strain in the UK. It is not thought it will affect the efficacy of vaccines.

It may cause members of this forum to panic too much. Which nobody needs. Its half the problem, the UK Govt and the its media propaganda (formerly BBC) continue to pump these kind of scare messages and it will affect people, but trampling over our mental doesn't seem to bother them at all. They would be better off not saying these things. Everything in nature changes...

ceminay 1,122
This is worrying because the strain we already know causes overflows in hospitals very easily, but we can lower the R number under 1 for quite a while with a moderate lockdown to lower transmission. If this variant is 70% more transmissible, then hospitalizations will be way worse, which would need very strict lockdowns more often (which won’t happen anywhere anymore) We really need to increase the vaccine production like it’s wartime, or the first half of 2021 will be pretty bad.
