Gaga "Not Promoting Chromatica"

So, I've been seeing a lot of monsters complaining that Gaga hasn't promoted/isnt promoting Chromatica enough (beginning of the era - rightbefore VMA's - 1 month after 911,...

While I do think she couldve done more, that's not what this thread is about so please let's not discuss that here :)

my question is the following. Some of y'all pointed out (and I really do believe this too) that Gaga might be in a "new" depression ever since she released the album. She doesnt seem as enthusiastic about it anymore, she doesnt promote it a lot,...(+now moving on to GUCCI etc) those are all facts I believe. HOWEVER, she is still signed to Interscope....

So let's say it all IS Gaga's decision to not release more Chromatice related stuff etc, no videos,... would Interscope give her full power to make those kind of decisions?

--> does Gaga really have the power to say "nope we won't release that and that, no more videos,...", "no I'm not feeling an AMA performance",.....?

At which point can Interscope step up and "take over" to make sure their "product" is still being promoted?

Hope my question is clear :wtfga:

I don’t think Interscope is that aggressive with one of their biggest artists. Like during ARTPOP, we know all the plans like the Grammy performance that never happened. Sometimes things happen and especially for someone as commercially successful as Gaga it’s not that big of a deal, or else they would’ve never kept her after her contract ended.

If it's not in a contract she doesn't have to do anything. Gaga's big enough that interscope would never drop her even if she refused to perform or promote anything.

Bonkers

These days record companies promote things by buying views and placement on streaming services and online stores.  They buy banner advertisements on sites like this fine site as well as print and billboard advertising.  They work with networks and publications to get mentions and placement.

That kind of thing.

Why do we feel like we need it promoted?  We already know about it, how it does it improve our lives to chart higher?

Having said that, I hope they hire JoJo Siwa to take Lady Gaga's place in the music videos for Sour Candy and Babylon.

As per her leaked legal documents, she has a lot of creative control. And it’s quite evident that her label lets her do anything she wants. Which is a great thing because she can focus on her health more.

That's such an interesting question as we don't really know how much Gaga has the power or authority to refuse stuff. At the end of the day, I think they still have to suggest her to do some kind of promotion and it's up to her and Bobby to decide if it's worth it or not.

I imagine that the record companies are more lenient this year with it's artists, with all that's going on in the world. They probably are hands off at the moment and not really babysitting, in business of online work through their artists. I think probably only releases and awards shows really are handled through them, otherwise artists probably do as they like with planning and promoting and hitting marks. This is just my thoughts, I don't actually know. I think that Gaga has moved on to her planned movie work by now.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

As always I’d buy this argument if Gaga weren’t promoting everything but Chromatica. I think she has just moved on from the album, which is fine. I’ve read a few posts that suggest she didn’t really want to make an album in its style.

I think it’s dangerous and inappropriate for us to speculate on and potentially fictionalise a mental health crisis.

Never heard anything like this, don't believe some radom post that nobody else has read about what Gaga wants to do, I highly doubt that.

We have figured it out by now that's she has power of authority for everything otherwise she wouldn't be doing what she's been doing (0 promo). Also her team consists of yes men who do not challenge her 'artistically'. (before anyone says for the millionth time that she needs yes men because she is depressed again as if you have a camera in her house and you got any clue of what's really happening).

I think Gaga is at a point in her career now where Interscope is willing to leave her alone. You have to remember that we're talking about an artist who just released her fifth straight #1 album, has five #1 songs, is an Oscar winner, a Golden Globe winner, an Emmy nominee, and who grossed over $5M from just three Vegas shows this year. She's headlined the SB.
