Chromatican 4,046
I was watching Miss Americana featuring Taylor Swift, and towards the end she mentions that the public throws women in a graveyard after they turn 35. Gaga will turn 35 in March, and right now, in the current music industry climate she is doing extremely well. Compare Chromatica to Smile or High Road and the differences are stark. Considering many people were labeling Gaga as past her prime in 2013 it really is amazing that she has bounced back as much as she has. Two straight years with #1 singles is hard for any popstar past 30 to obtain, and her streak of #1 albums has been maintained despite constant reinvention and intense public scrutiny. We really need to be grateful for A Star is Born, and Gaga’s choice to prioritize acting. It’s a long term investment in her legacy. Promoting Chromatica on late night shows and doing Zoom performances of 911 is not going to solidify Gaga as an icon right now. Acclaim, commitment to her branding, extending into new fields and forging new professional relationships will. Time to stop thinking like it’s still 2011, we are moving into a new decade, and the traditional music promotion cycles are not the standard. Time to embrace Gaga’s new endeavors even if they are not as immediately gratifying.
Sorcerer92 837
I would be very content if Lady Gaga's trajectory in this new decade (and the rest of her career) went the way of either Cher or Cyndi Lauper. Cher has had tons of success in the film world and has continued to push out flawless albums left and right, in addition to giving us some of the best tours of her career. Cyndi has solidified herself as a philanthropist just like LG, but she hasn't had the worldwide success (per say) that Cher has had.
JoanneMonster 9,026
taylor is 31, beyonce is 39, Gaga is 34, Ariana is 27, Miley is 28 and they are all pretty successful, Madonna was about 50 when she relased MDNA, so I think we are good I See You
Miel 15,009
You are right, and I don't disagree. But a smidgen more content would have been nice tbh 3 points in and ready for more

Although I would say Gaga has already eclipsed Cyndi Lauper’s career in just over a decade so I don’t know if the comparison holds.

She didn’t leave it to rot. What is she supposed to do? Quit filming Bullet Train and do a ton of rushed performances of 911 to try and promote an 8 month old album? Sorcerer92 837
Just now, imitalian said: I mean.. leaving an album to rot is not gonna solidify her status either so.. Madonna did not promote Bedtime Stories when it was released. And she didn't tour Ray of Light until 2000 and her career is just fine. Let's not act like one album era without promotion is the end of the world. 2 minutes ago, Chromatican said: I definitely agree on Cher. I should not have made the Cyndi comparison because I feel both LG and Cyndi are icons in their own way; but I'm glad you understand the point I was trying to make. NFRatwell 23,290
Yes embrace her acting career but don’t pretend that prioritizing her acting career is something necessary for her to remain successful. This is the same thing as your last thread, trying to diminish our expectations of Gaga as a music and pop culture icon. There’s nothing wrong with people wanting performances and more music related art from Gaga. And there’s nothing wrong with us being disappointed that she has yet to deliver the experience she promoted when the album dropped in May (Chromatica TV, a Chromatica universe, new music, etc.). It got a number one debut and a number one single thats nothing to turn your nose up at. Even if she did a lot of promo the fans wouldve benefitted but the actual performance wouldnt have really been that different. The music isnt paltable for the GP it just isnt. It was an album for the fans and it got the accolades it needed to. its time to find other artists to fulfill your creative/escapist fantasies. Time to start finding other music to dance to that isnt wrapped in the same format youre used to. Branch out, expand your taste. Because the fact is if gaga not performing this year has made you bored that means youre incapable of finding other itches to scratch. be a grown adult and have enough interests that one of them not being there isnt detrimental to your entertainment. you think her legacy is if 911 charted and im so thankful that gaga and the people around her know that literally 95 percent of the population has no ****ing idea that she didnt perform a lot this year. How entitled are you that we got an entire album this year and youre saying “we feel disappointed because theres no new music” YOU GOT THE NEW MUSIC. ITS OUT. from a business standpoint if shes gonna release more it makes sense to wait til everyone and their mother isnt also releasing things. yeah you can want more performances but at this point you want different things for gagas career than she does and youll need to come to terms with that eventually. If you know her goals and what she wants you cant feel “betrayed” or let down because youre expecting what she wants not expecting her to do what you want. since literally cheek to cheek you all have had the time to embrace the fact that gaga was not gonna be what we thought she was gonna be when we signed up for this. Its been six years for you all to come to terms with the fact she doesnt want to be madonna and only put out music you like consistently. Shes gonna wanna do things SHE wants to do and if you have some semblance of respect for her youll move on from your grandiose visions of what you want her to be and just let her BE

I’m sorry that I trust Gaga? Lol. She said what she wanted to do with this era after she delayed it (like I said, all these thing were teased AFTER the covid delay). I was ready for them, and they never came. There’s nothing entitled about holding someone up to their promises. It’s not like I created a make believe reality where she said she was going to give us performances everyday and release a new album every month. I don’t even know what that last point means. I’ve loved and embraced all her projects (CTC, AHS, Joanne, ASIB, Chromatica) regardless of whether they’re my “thing” or not.

Guest
I was thinking not long back of how compared to Smile and High Road, Chromatica did so well. Gaga is still relevant because of her talent and ability to connect to her audience, I wouldn't worry as one album cycle with not a lot of promo won't hurt her career as I think she's been through the worst.
