Taylor Swift is spreading the holiday joy this difficult season, helping out those in need. The star donated $13,000 to two mothers' GoFundMe pages after reading a Washington Postarticle spotlighting Americans who are behind on rent due to the government's lack of stimulus agreement amid the COVID-19 crisis.
Swift, alongside her donation, wrote a touching messages:
- "Nikki, I read about you in the Washington Post and thought it was really brave of you to share your story. I'm so sorry for everything you've had to go through this year and wanted to send you this gift, from one Nashville girl to another. Love, Taylor."
- "Shelbie, I'm sending you this gift after reading about you in the Washington Post. No one should have to feel the kind of stress that's been put on you. I hope you and your beautiful family have a great holiday season. Love, Taylor."

The fact that Taylor doesn’t need to but still continues to do stuff like this

I think she’s long eclipsed Gaga in endearment to her fans.

The fanbases are not the same though. I think Gaga really made the mistake of trying to revive the concept of super fan and actually achieving it, which proved to be very detrimental to her in the long run as everyone can see. Taylor didn't do any of the sort and has a much more supportive fanbase. It's sad but there's nothing Gaga could've done to prevent it.

Very true. Gaga's meteoric rise is due in part to how extremely accessible she was to her fans from The Fame – Born This Way. Especially during her tours when she'd invite fans to hang out with her after the show/on the bus and in some cases have very deep talks together.

Taylor does the same sort of random-picking of fans to meet her after the show for free, which is absolutely amazing, but she still styles the meet and greet very traditionally (i.e. you get about less than a minute to interact and get a picture).

Don't get me wrong, I loved Gaga's style of fan interaction during the 2008-2012 years. But Taylor was really smart in the way that she is extremely interactive with her fans but there are obvious lines to not be crossed and organic boundaries in any scenario that she does.

Taylor actually crossed way more lines than Gaga ever did. She invited fans over to her private homes for listening preview parties before the release of some of her albums (I think Reputation and Lover). She showed up to fans' doorsteps that she, according to herself "stalked on Tumblr for a while," to deliver holiday gifts and cookies. Nothing wrong with any of this and I think its adorable, but my point is that even Gaga didn't go this far with some of her fans.

I think the difference is that psychologically, Gaga is an introvert and Taylor is an extrovert. That coupled with Gaga's personal issues she's not really fit to care for others so much anymore, especially strangers. Had Gaga not continue to struggle to this day, I think she would be as interactive with her fans as she was back then.

You bring up good points, but there's still something to be said here.

Taylor invited fans to her house as media stunts to use to promote the albums on YouTube and in the media (amazing idea tbh). Even then, their phones were confiscated, they were chartered to her house on buses and I'm sure security was aplenty. Fans don't wait outside her homes, as they did with Gaga's in New York which goes to show the different relationships they have. She did "#taylurk" on fans during previous eras and showed up with gifts to deserving fans. Still, it's all very professional and she doesn't unload her personal demons as Gaga did when meeting fans during those years I mentioned.

It's as if Gaga wanted this same sort of interaction with her fans, but like you said, she's mentally not built for it. Her fans' demons became her demons. Taylor's fans adore the hell out of her, but since Taylor wasn't a monumental part of any of them coming to terms with their sexuality, mental illness or deep struggles (as Gaga was for so many of us, which I praise her for), she's able to keep a steady surface-level mode of interaction with them.
