FfFfFfFF 58,117
A high biodiversity in our vicinity is as important for life satisfaction as our income, scientists found. All across Europe, the individual enjoyment of life correlates with the number of surrounding bird species. An additional 10% of bird species therefore increases the Europeans' life satisfaction as much as a comparable increase in income. "Europeans are particularly satisfied with their lives if their immediate surroundings host a high species diversity," explains the study's lead author, Joel Methorst, a doctoral researcher at the Senckenberg Biodiversity and Climate Research Centre, the iDiv, and the Goethe University in Frankfurt. "According to our findings, the happiest Europeans are those who can experience numerous different bird species in their daily life, or who live in near-natural surroundings that are home to many species." According to the study, a diverse nature therefore plays an important role for human well-being across Europe -- even beyond its material services. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/12/201204110246.htm
Galactastica 318
There are a lot of studies that show exposure to nature in general improves health, lifespan, stress levels, pretty much everything. Even for people who "don't like nature", it's just build into our system. There was one that focused on hospital stays that discovered that a person with a window to a green space or trees in their room heal sometimes twice as fast. Even a room with a painting of a tree can have a positive effect. So interesting! There is a great book called Last child in the Woods by Richard Louv that focuses on what having or not having access to green spaces does to children. River 127,396
I live next to them in costa rica, I hate them, they wake me up at 5am, they enters the house and sh-its everywhere, sometimes attacking me when I'm just walking especially during their nesting seasons, living next to nature means many bugs, always mosquitos, I was stung by a scorpion once when I sat at the balcony. This study is just wrong So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

Killa 18,818
Im sorrounded by some mostly by blackbirds. As you know they sing well, its quite a privilege. Honestly constructions, demolutions etc make me very uneasy. Also after the trend of minimal all white clean claustrophobic spaces the tendency is for green. Lots flowers etc. Its a need most people feel unsubconsciently
