Billboard's guess for Grammy nominees in the big categories

I think Gaga will get a few cute noms, whether she wins any is a big if. 

I am rooting for Dua, Harry Styles and Fiona Apple to be recognised with nominations too.

The Weeknd will probably sweep.

The Grammys have been generous to Gaga recently (Joanne [Piano Version], ASIB tracks nominated last year) I find it hard to believe they'd heavily snub Chromatica. I assume the pop categories get at least 2-3 nominations (Pop Vocal Album, Pop Duo/Group, and maybe even Pop Solo) and may even receive 1-2 in the mains (Album or Record?)...but those less likely.

Do you even remember what happened when Chromatica was released? 29th of May - 4 days before that George Floyd was killed. Even as she was celebrating her release day on Twitter, people were skewering her for dancing to 911, in the clip with Bobby. Do you think she wasn't affected? Do you want her to go on performing Rain on me even as Ariana was seen during the first waves of BLM protests? How fcking tone deaf would she look doing that? 

And you'd ask: Oh but she can resume promoting after. Well, what's the point? Promo only works while the material is hot. She put on a huge VMA performance because the occasion presents. Of course she can pretend like nothing happened and put on more performances, but have you even stopped to think that she was traumatized by all of this? The fact that COVID and then police brutality screwed up her vision as well as fcking up society. 

Gaga isn't Dua or Doja - she has been through A LOT in her career. Not saying the struggles of new artists don't matter, but you can't expect a veteran like Gaga to consider 'album promo' as important as her own well-being and even long term career strategies. Dua and Doja are both new artists, relatively. They have no choice but to ride the wave because if they sit back their 'moment' will fade. Also, neither of them had huge releases coinciding with super political conflict charged time frame, as said. 

Yes the era was ruined, but the fact that you people come here to bicker, blaming her, her team and Interscope shows you have no empathy as her fans. If you only care for her because she serves promo and slays the award shows or whatever the f shallow gays vicariously live for then maybe it's time to leave.

They are so basic, I am not saying the song is bad, I am just saying these guys do whatever and still are praised.

It's crazy to me that Bruno, and honestly, lbr, The Weeknd, are, or are going to be, AOTY winners before Kendrick. 

Them doing stupid stuff like this is why I refer to it as The Shammys. 

But yeah, anyway, we know Chromatica is a quality album, but the Grammys are super political, and even after her more down-to-earth eras, Gaga is still polarizing to them (I remember that bitchy paneler coming for Shallow in the Shammy Anonymous Ballot thing), so not sure if she'll ever take home a general one. After the shenanigans they pull behind the scenes with the panels, I strongly suggest the fanbase should quit collectively carring about them outside of live performances.

I'm sure Gaga will get some nominations in the pop categories. I don't think it's super likely she will nab any in the major categories, which I think is fair (considering my opinion on Chromatica omg). ROM could definitely be up there for SOTY/ROTY. Would Gaga be rewarded for ROTY a a primary artist, or would she have needed to be a producer?

That said, I truly wish SAWAYAMA would be in contender for... like, literally anything at all. I know it probably won't get a nomination at all, but it's one of those truly astounding pop albums that deserves to be recognized as high as the general field!
