Werk 13,166
"Pennsylvania Supreme Court rejects Trump campaign's claim that observers were denied 'meaningful' access to watch vote counting in Philadelphia In a 5-2 opinion, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court ruled against the Trump campaign's claim that the Philadelphia Board of Elections broke the law by asking poll observers from both parties to maintain six feet of distance while watching mail-in ballots be counted due to COVID-19 precautions. The court made the ruling after determining that the election code does not specify the minimum distance observers need to be. This reverses a decision made in a lower court, marking another setback for the Trump campaign's legal battles following the 2020 US election." Can someone explain what the third tweet is talking about as in winning on the lower court?
Eighteen 5,430
layman's interpretation: so this is state court (i think) so a court apparently ruled in trump's favor and trump opponents then appealed the decision, bringing the case up to an appellate court (the state supreme court, which would give the final word), and they overturned the verdict of a lower court. i dunno if this can move to the federal courts or if this is just the end. edit: to elaborate: i think it goes like this: trump sues philadelphia (idk if in reality he sued philly, or a county in philly, or PA as a whole, or what, but this is just an example), claiming some kind of grievance with the election process; the case is heard before a state court (as opposed to a federal court), and trump wins the case. then the people who lost, aka trump's opponents in the case, ask for another look at the case, at which time the case moves on to an appeals court (which in the real life example i guess would be the supreme court of PA). the supreme court then gives the final word on the matter. edit again: but i've also heard of cases moving from state jurisdiction to federal jurisdiction, so idk if this matter is really dead or if it'll just be heard again in a district court (the lower federal court), or straight to the US supreme court (the highest court in the USA). FATCAT 60,888
What makes me more worried is that there were 2 justices that thought Trump had a case. We need to get these partisans off the bench. Edit: Apparently the 2 dissenting opinions were NOT pro-Trump, so it was a 7-0 decisions really This kitten over here (meow)

monster4life231 4,304
It's funny how Trump and his supporters were saying this like "let's wait for the court to make their rulings, we follow the law in this country and the law is right". Now that they're losing, I think they'll turn against this too by saying things like "the court was rigged, the judges don't understand law, the judges were Biden supporters". Their logic is "what we say is right and everybody else is wrong because we say they're wrong and we are always right". spread peace - #MJInnocent
