If covid was as deadly as ebola, I suspect your anti vaxxers and your reluctant vaxxers would join the vaxx queue like everyone else.

Ebola is a very very dangerous virus, so your argument is invalid

Funny thing: when a disease afects straight people they can elaborate a vaccine in more or less two years. Why can't they develop a vaccine for HIV in 40 years?

Why can't they develop vaccines for diseases that affect underdeveloped countries?

I dont think people ask these questions to themselves.

Vaccines are great, I will never deny it, I get myself vaccinated for the most basic ones that have been used for more than decades, Im not anti-vaxxer AT ALL! But to put so much trust and blind faith into corporations and big pharma cannot be me.To think that Health has no business/capitalist incentive behind them is just thinking that everyone in this world is so kind and we live in Disneyland. Not to mention a pandemic exercise was conducted months before the coronavirus outbreak. I mean, Im not inventing it out of thin air, it's right there

Not and can't draw any conclusions from this, but to be perplexed  by everything, does not mean people are dumb. Some go too far and create conspiracies with no real tangible proof while others are just perplexed and don't wanna be a part of this until they are sure that things are working for the benefice of people and not corporations and corrupted people in power.

I definitely think this is the right thing, but not to the extend of blocking these people from living their life completely. But I’m totally here for people not being allowed to work in crowded environments, essential work or go to events like concerts without vaccinations.

This is wrong on so many levels. These two viruses are NOT comparable. It’s like saying how can we get a vaccine for Covid in months but are unable to safely and easily cure Cancer.

These viruses work completely different, the way they get transmitted is completely different, the diseases they trigger are completely different. The basics were explained by someone above me. This sentiment completely undermines the steps the medical field was able to make towards prevention, cure and treatment with PEP, PrEP, drugs to treat the disease and the way we can prevent an HIV infection with testing, educating and practicing safety measures like the use of condoms.

And while it took Government years to acknowledge the global health crisis that was HIV, and it took decades to fight the stigma that came from naming AIDS the “Gay Cancer”, a fight that is far from over, saying “when a disease affects straight people” shows that even you (presumably LGBT) suggest, that HIV is in fact a “gay disease” when it isn’t. So you push that agenda in a way you surely don’t want.

I didn't really make an argument, but if I did what I would be arguing is that people who say they are full scale anti vaxxers are really only anti vaxx up to a point, because they would surely take the vaccine if it was clear that not doing so meant that they were likely to die.

People who are hesitant about vaccines, as opposed to anti-vaxx, are a different matter, but I still believe they are foolish to be like that. If you are being told definitively by the scientists (who know what they are talking about) that you have a much greater chance of a bad outcome through not taking a vaccine, then not taking it is foolish.

I know that you have underlying conditions, and I think that puts you in a different category.  You need to assess things specifically from the point of view of your own condition.

Never got vaccinated for Influenza, yet this virus killed 1m people and continues to circulate today. The goal is to slow down the contamination with the vaccine for Corona, but u cant stop a virus, and I wouldnt be surprised if a new one starts to emerge in 2021 and 2022. We are talking about a virus which we still don't have a clear answer where it started from

Well, I am from a country in development (nice way to say third world) and we have public health service. Health is a right here. I take every vaccine I can to protect myself.

There are many diseases afecting my country (like dengue) that affect us for centuries and no one ever cared about developing vaccines or good treatment for it. Countries all over development nations have several diseases that wipe the lives of hundreds of thousands evey year and I cannot not think about how shady it is to develop only treatment for profitable diseases. Luckily there are researchers in our universities working in a few of these diseases, but unfortunatley in our country (Brazil) the president Bolsonaro is doing the best he can to destroy public universities, our health system and every right the workers have.

I am authistic, so don't be offended if I make a mess sometimes.

I am not comparing the two viruses, what I am comparing is the effort governments put into finding a cure for them. If you don't acknowledge that government looked away at the HIV crisis in its beginning because it was a virus that killed gay, hemophilics, sex workers and drug users, people they didn't give a damn.

The HIV was called "gay cancer" for a reason. And governments were negligent for a reason. I am from 85. I remember seeing people in tv dying with AIDS, in my country there was a singer named Cazuza and one of my first memories is hearing he died because of AIDS related illness. I remember when HIV meant certain death, I remember when the first suceeding treatments came around. My country (Brazil) was the first country to offer free treatment for HIV to its citizens.

But believe whatever you want to believe. Let's pretend that HIV is not associated with gays anymore, that gays, bis, straight people etc. have the same chance of getting HIV from non safe sex.

Gonna ignore the rest, because it basically is what I said before, just more precise. But two things: Government has (at least in the western world) realized it’s mess-up and it is in fact helping medicine and social work to fight against HIV and Aids. And there are ways to save yourself from ultimately getting Aids, that are far more effective than those to save yourself from the COVID.

Oh, and you in fact did compare the two, you made the “when straights are affected it takes months for a vaccine” statement. smh

Nobody is pretending HIV isn’t associated with the gays, in fact I stated that your rhetoric is furthering the stigma instead of fighting it.

Every person has the right and freedom of thought, belief, possessing a political opinion, the choice to fulfil or not to fulfil the requirements of his chosen religion. Nobody can dominate other opinions and consciences.

That's true democracy. If the majority get vaccinated, as WHO said many times which is 60%, the governement cannot come in people's houses and force a needle into their arms. That's something China would do for example. I can tell you as a french person, it'll never happen here. Freedom is instilled in the values

You flop face. Democracy is a form of government and choice-making, what you're talking about here is freedom of speech which doesn't apply when other people's liberties are at risk. I don't really care what the WHO says about this tbh, but in this case the 60% thing can be interpreted hypothetically, but what would you say if more than 40% of a country's population refuses to be vaccinated because "uuuuhhhhh but muh liberties". That would result in hundreds of deaths and that is a fact. Choosing whether or not to put other people's lives at risk is not freedom, it is a fictional sense of moral superiority that finds itself at home in the alt-right's world view. If all you have to justify the death of people due to the irresponsibility of others is an abstract sense of "freedom" (whatever it means in this case), then you've taken the wrong path.

When you live in a democracy you live in a place where freedom of thought and choice exists. Even if you disagree with people, you can't force people to do something medical, especially injecting a vaccine that's so brand new. Do you understand or can you understand that some people feel perplexed and would rather wait than to rush to get vaccinated?

It's not just WHO it's a fact that if 60% get vaccinated in a country it's more than enough to slow down the contaminations of the virus and get back on track. You can't eliminate a virus, it will always exist by the way.

That's actually not going to happen. Many people will rush to get the vaccine, only a few people don't want to get it, so relax.

Such a specific narrow point of view, but the truth of the matter is, that your narrow point of view as to why some don't wanna get vaccinated right now has a broad array of reasons/different thought processes and DISCLAIMER different BELIEFS!!!! Wow??? Can u believe it? That some people are not far-right and yet they feel perplexed and a bit anxious??? Incredible isn't it, that you can't really label everyone all the time fr every thought all human beings have. Good luck to you, because if you keep telling people who think differently than you that they must be Trump supporters, far-right, anti-vaxxers, or conspiracy theorists, one day you'll find yourself hitting your head on a wall realizing you gonna have to re-caliber your whole understanding of the human race and the world you live in.
