I believe the reason that the covid-19 vaccine is coming along so quickly is because it was able to build on previous efforts to develop a vaccine against SARS. The odds of surviving Russian roulette is 83% and I wouldn't consider doing that. If we take a 90% effective covid vaccine we would still stay in total isolation until covid has basically disappeared from the population. You need to understand that COVID-19 is a coronavirus, a type of virus we have studied extensively for years. We already have the framework when it comes to developing a vaccines for these types of viruses (mainly from SARS and MERS). This gives us a huge leap in development time, saving us years. No one should be worried about the covid vaccine being developed so quick. Virologists have been studying and making vaccines on similar viruses for years. djparky 269 Posted November 9, 2020 Share Posted November 9, 2020 No vaccine will ever be 100%, I get the flu jab every year and it provides enough protection but won't stop everything ( I had swine flu when that went around 10 years or so ago). We will wait some months after it is widely distributed until it has had time to virtually eliminate the disease before we emerge from our isolation. Until then, I look at it this way: If you had a deck of 10 cards and one of them is a death card, and if you pick the death card you die, would you play and pick a card if you didn't have to? After the disease has been virtually eliminated in the public, then the odds of survival is much better. I live outside the space time continuum.
