Is it her best? Maybe in the GP’s eyes, it’s Classic Gaga at it’s best, one for the history books for sure. This you said it all. Sadly, TFM's concept was better exploited. Chromatica has so much potential, she proved it with the 911 video, she sent such a strong message about trauma and mental health, and did it with amazing looks and visuals, and a fresh sound. But that's not it. TFM was a follow up to an extremely successful debut album. Most cases it's a hit or miss. If it was a miss it would have not propelled her to stardom and maybe her trajectory would be completely different. She proved that she is a shapeshifter, she brought back to life the concept albums, it cemented her aesthetics/fashion+music and made everyone nuts about her, she taught with class every other artist of this generation that camp can be mainstream and solidified that she is a force to be reckoned. BTW success is contributed by the huge amount of success TFM was because literally everyone was expecting her next move back in 2011. ARTPOP, although a success on its own, was messy and polarized a lot of fans & GP. Joanne was moderately impactful and a beautiful piece of work, Chromatica is the victim of covid. If the album could unfold the way it was planned maybe it would be another redifining point in her career. But its impact in the midst of the pandemic is... Well... So although subjective, the answer still stands. TFM is her best album in terms of solidifying Lady Gaga as a house name and as a part of her beautiful discography it really stands out on its own. He’s talking about the actual music, not all the other stuff.

The very clear concept of the album is what makes it her best. There is no mess. Literally all her other projects go off-course at certain points with a track or 2 seeming to not fit any narrative - or fitting one of too many narratives. there is one mess: Teeth. It stands out in the album because it doesn’t really fit I think chromatica is probably her best album. however, at the time of release - the fame monster had such a huge impact, it was a very QUICK and polarising transition from the fame. We went from pure pop songs to dark synth pop with so many undertones and hidden meanings, there was nothing else like it being released. It was super cohesive, had great story telling behind the meanings of all songs and how she described her various fears but it hit well with the GP because they were dance anthems. Also the visuals took the songs to new heights. Chromatica has that same essence, she just hasn’t been able to execute a cohesive era

CHROMATICON 2,068
12 hours ago, xoxo Craig said: Which it doesn't It literally does tho. Chromatica is a dance house inspired record wich follows the 4-on-the-floor simplistic beat most house songs have with the ongoing snare over and over. The only songs that don't do that are Plastic Doll and Babylon, with the first one being more poppy and the second one more late 80s house infected with different drum patterns. Chromatica is a great record, even tho it's easily her safest and most generic album to date, it's also her most cohesive and lyrically flawless work to date. The album IS repetitive in terms of sequence, but is that a bad thing? No. She made a fun, careless pure dance record, with no egos and no pretention. Versace 7,924
Generally speaking it is. The fan base will always have an attachment to BTW but if you look outside that, TFM is considered her best work. I for one feel it is. The album is a concise well-thought out 8 song journey that culturally and sonically reset the Pop genre. The fear theme was executed perfectly. I think when it comes to execution, TFM is undoubtedly the best executed concept of hers. Each song represents a fear and fame being personified as the monster of all those fears, is brilliant! Gaga gets criticized for the execution of some of her concepts but I think TFM did not have that issue. Also don't get me started on how amazing and iconic the album covers are!
