  1. 1. Is The Fame Monster REALLY Gaga’s best album?

TFM all the way. It’s a skip-less concise album that didn’t sound or look like ANYTHING at the time. The videos / tour / imagery were to die for. This album is the true definition of ARTPOP. If I could meet any version of gaga it would be TFM gaga.

I would say it’s got some of her best songs, but it’s not her best album. Honestly just because, compared to Born this Way, ARTPOP, and Chromatica, it doesn’t give that full album experience to me. Like, Born this Way feels like an experience, a universe even built into an album. Same with ARTPOP and Chromatica. But TFM, while having arguably some of the best songs, just doesn’t give me that same feeling of grandiose, despite its quality.

TFM is too one dimensional compared to her other albums, the narrative about every track being a different “fear”  in some cases doesn’t even makes sense, but it’s so easy to digest that I guess that’s why is a fan favorite.

TFM is the epitome of “Quality over Quantity”
it’s short and sweet, great production all around that doesn’t feel repetitive, great lyrics, theme is there but isn’t restricting.
Is it her best? Maybe in the GP’s eyes, it’s Classic Gaga at it’s best, one for the history books for sure.

Objectively it is not. Its great but the way I think of it is even if all songs are a 10 (which they are not because Telephone and Monster), BTW, ARTPOP and Chromatica STILL have more songs which are a 10.

She really milked it for all it was worth making us believe Telephone was her Fear of Suffocation Monster when we all know she just wrote it as a fun song for Britney to sing :ladyhaha:

I would say is her most cohesive cause it's short so there's no much space for fillers.

But her best album is born this way.

Yes.

Most people here consider it a shade if we value TFM more than any of her recent projects. But that's not it.

TFM was a follow up to an extremely successful debut album. Most cases it's a hit or miss. If it was a miss it would have not propelled her to stardom and maybe her trajectory would be completely different. She proved that she is a shapeshifter, she brought back to life the concept albums, it cemented her aesthetics/fashion+music and made everyone nuts about her, she taught with class every other artist of this generation that camp can be mainstream and solidified that she is a force to be reckoned.

BTW success is contributed by the huge amount of success TFM was because literally everyone was expecting her next move back in 2011. ARTPOP, although a success on its own, was messy and polarized a lot of fans & GP. Joanne was moderately impactful and a beautiful piece of work, Chromatica is the victim of covid. If the album could unfold the way it was planned maybe it would be another redifining point in her career. But its impact in the midst of the pandemic is... Well...

So although subjective, the answer still stands. TFM is her best album in terms of solidifying Lady Gaga as a house name and as a part of her beautiful discography it really stands out on its own.

Which it doesn't

I believe it does, lol. The songs are great and I like the instrumentals, but they have similar features, including beats in the absence of a lyrical chorus.

Get the pinot ready, because it's turtle time.

Agree with you for sure. The album is amazing for sure, but it can't be compared.
