I think she didn't even take the concept of the album seriously enough. I just think some songs could've had fun lyrics too. I think fun tonight is totally out of place. It kills the mood for me while i'm bopping to the other songs
Its just Lu 38
I feel personally torn about this album. On the one hand, it feels to serious to be a Gaga albums, but to „wild“ to be a Lady album. I like the album, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE Sine from Above and thousand doves. (Mostly for personal reasons) but the album itself feels kinda out of place. I still don’t understand the visuals of it. The Cover gives me way other vibes than the visuals in the album. And even these don’t give me cohesive vibes. The songs i think, they don’t sound fit in the “a different planet” feeling that she tries to gives. It feels just all in one off. pussycat 3,514
I agree. I love all the visuals and videos tho so i do enjoy the era but i just hate Chromatica except for ROM, Alice, Babylon. 911 was amazing live but the recorded version also just doesn't do it for me
Ziggy 11,874
I don’t completely agree with your assessment. I think that it’s plenty campy (it’s chock full of it, actually), but what it lacks is ironically the same thing that it did so well critically—it isn’t chaotic. Past albums were clashing and crashing song to song, sometimes within a song. There was a frenetic energy and almost this madcap desire to capture every idea she had had EVER. Thus the camp felt bigger, the drama larger, and the silliness maxed out. In Chromatica’s case, she has over the top vocals that she stretches and changes all over the album. Actually, I’d say it’s the album of hers that does that most. Her silly lyricisms are still there, but in their effort for a cohesive album what you end up losing is that distinctive Gaga chaoticness in an album. *that* is my take. Up until Joanne, it was chaotic, though even in Joanne that last half is a mishmash of so many different analog genres that that even has it lol
mercurial high 152
Chromatica's just a bit safe for Gaga (not necessarily a bad thing), I think she doesn't want scare the GP like she did with ARTPOP. Taylor Swift's 'Fearless (Taylor's Version)' is out April 9th!

It's a good album but that's it and honestly it is a little disappointing coming from Gaga, especially after such a great soundtrack What is it about this message board sometimes that people are afraid to voice how they really feel? I'm very happy to be surrounded by other Gaga fans which is why I joined but I quickly picked up on this 'pressure' to praise Gaga all the time and the second you say something that might be interpreted as negative you get bombarded by sad reactions. Like wtf. Being a fan =/= being in a cult. Everyone should be allowed to criticize a record Gaga released just as everyone is allowed to praise it. vyniildisk 12,689
I love it when it first came but now in retrospective, i think he was just trying to release a full dance album with a lot of costumes and crazy outfits to shut our hoe mouths and get rid of us

The album cover is completely different than 911 MV which I don't get at all. So if we'll have another mv, I hope it won't be like 911 because I just don't like it. I hope it'll something like rain on me.
Suspiria 10,683
I get what you mean. However I don't think the campness is totally absent. For me Babylon was an instant classic in her discography, it gave me a similar feeling to Venus. The "Bloodpop Moonlight" lyric reminds me of a the HML references to the Dirty Pearls and Rivington Rebels. The strength of the imagery was comparable to Venus and the Babble On/Babylon homonym just feels very classic camp Gaga. I think Enigma just fully sounds like musical theatre, both the melody and her vocal delivery. The same for Replay to an extent, and definitely the bridge for Plastic Doll (to the point of cringe lmao). I also think the orchestral interludes are could very much be described as camp. They are just pure indulgence, that just add more drama and theatre to the album. The straight people I know who listened to it said they sound like a family adventure movie or something lmao. But I feel like Gaga, as a naturally camp person, felt very emotional towards those interludes.

Like wtf. Being a fan =/= being in a cult. Everyone should be allowed to criticize a record Gaga released just as everyone is allowed to praise it. I don't understand this. People here criticizes Gaga and her team on almost daily basis for years. No one is stopping them or you to do so. Sad reacts? Well the ratio depends on how many disagrees with your opinion. It's a take it or leave it situation. It's not a modus operandi or a cult conspiracy of some sort. As a dedicated LG site, most of fans here are die hard stans which will probably eat almost all of her materials, for whatever the reasons they have. But that's not a requirement to join here and many are actually just casual fans - with few people just being curios, pop enthusiasts or OGH in disguise And what's with the pressure of expressing your thoughts? I mean you just need to type it and click the submit reply button. But if you feel enmity about people disagreeing with your opinion then I believe the problem lies within your expectation of how people will perceive your thoughts rather than being pressured to say good things out of thin air. I mean, if you are true to your opinion then the number of people disagreeing with your opinion shouldn't matter right? Especially knowing that you posted it on LG's very own cult site. And nope, I'm not making excuses that it's an exclusive site for LG hence people will sad react you - I'm stating facts. This is a cult site for LG and majority of the population here are die hard stans. But that should not hinder any form of criticisms to LG, though expect a lot of sad reacts and rebuttals (just like this ). Lastly, whatever your opinion, criticism or support to Gags, everything should be stated under proper decorum. You can report disrespectful replies . Yeah I agree. Honestly it was a smart move for her “epic return to pop” but next album i feel would be MASSIVE if she included elements of campiness. People love her old hits because of the humor in the lyrics (Like I wanna take a ride on your disco stick is iconic)

Honestly the camp of Chromatica comes from just how dramatic it is, I guess the real missing element is the silliness / not taking itself seriously. AntonTurnItUp 7,088
Chromatica is a masterpiece but the gheys still are obsessed with that bored 80s disco trend and that's why they don't feel and understand the rave-house vibes of Biblematica and the 'dance with the pain' concept
