Xoxo Adriana 15,040
https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/amp.abc.net.au/article/12851152 only a few months ago, in August, Melbourne was getting it tough with a massive three month lockdown due to receiving 700+ daily cases and the biggest death toll in Australia. due to the theee month tight lockdown, we are finally seeing the results, as we have reached our 8th day in a row of 0 cases and 0 deaths. the rest of Australia has been open since the end of the first lockdown in May, as they have managed to stabilise their cases. yesterday’s numbers: the total active cases in the state of Victoria are currently sitting at only 15, so if we keep getting 0 daily cases for just a few more days, Melbourne and the rest of Victoria could be seeing a complete eradication of COVID. source: https://www.dhhs.vic.gov.au/coronavirus-update-victoria-6-november-2020 the only problem we could be facing is travel, as the government has already decided to allow New Zealand travellers into Melbourne. HOWEVER, NZ are also in the same position as us with little to no cases, so this is known as a COVID travel bubble. as far as Australia as a whole, we are in the third day of 0 cases. this is a very good sign however sydney’s total cases will need to decrease before we can start confirming this. other places like northern territory and brisbane have been doing amazing with low cases since May. this isn’t to say COVID will never come back, however for the time being we are definitely on the right track to eliminating it. how did we do this? well for three months here in melbourne, we had all retail and non-essential stores closed, we have a mandatory mask rule which includes heavy fines if caught not wearing one, and strict social distancing rules as we have eased back into covid “normal”. we are at the same state, if not better, than where we were at in January/february! Xoxo Adriana 15,040
a quick note: the case numbers can be inaccurate if people aren’t getting tested (we could only hope people are if they’ve got symptoms), however this is definitely a close estimate of what’s happening. also being we are heading into summer soon, these promising numbers could be here to stay

The entire state of Queensland has kept its borders shut from most states although numbers have been minuscule everywhere else in the country. I’m from Sydney, New South Wales. We share a border with Queensland and they have demanded for us to have 0 cases for a period of at least 21 days before they consider opening up which is frustratingly ridiculous. Brisbane is doing great as there is no entry into the city or state from anywhere. While in Sydney we have been accepting thousands of people, mostly Australians travelling back to the country from abroad, and checking them into hotel quarantine while Queensland is acting all mighty and superior lately. It’s keeping people from visiting loved ones, even in serious health conditions, and also people who need to cross borders for necessities or work. Queensland even said not so long ago that their hospitals are only for Queenslanders which is bs.
